Discounts Help Overcome Surging Euro

Posted on

Discounts. Words, I Like Discounts, in purplish blue, with a thumbs up symbol at the end.HOW TO FIND THE BEST YACHT CHARTER PRICE

Finding the best prices for crewed catamaran charters and super yacht charters has never been easier.  Travelers looking for exceptional value at sea can turn to a new webpage offered by 1-800 Yacht Charters.

WHO IS 1-800 YACHT CHARTERS

1-800 Yacht Charters, known for offering the newest and largest yachts in the world’s best destinations, has created a web page featuring seasonal last minute specials, free days onboard, and exclusive deep discounts. Specials are available for select catamarans, sailboats, and motor yachts…RIGHT NOW!

COMPANY PRESIDENT COMMENTS

The company’s President, Jana Sheeder, feels the time is right to go beyond “selling”  charter vacations.

The dynamics of our global economy are evolving,” says Sheeder.  “We continue to see the weakening of the value of the dollar against the euro. This means travel to Europe continues to become more expensive for Americans.

Jana Sheeder sitting on the aft couch of a yacht in a marina

Sheeder continues,

Many of our yachts transact in Euros.  By focusing on value, we can offer savvy travelers an opportunity to mitigate the effects of a surging euro.  Offering deep discounts and free, extra days onboard helps offset the gap between our US currency and that of the European Union.

WEBPAGE FEATURES

The new web page displays a dozen or so yachts, both in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, offering significant savings for rentals;  for example, at 311 feet 8 inches (95 meters) in length, motor yacht INDIAN EMPRESS is one of the largest yachts in the world. Her weekly rental rate is €600,000.  Sheeder is offering a rate reduction of €200,000 per week for summer 2011 bookings.

Saving almost 25% helps offset the nearly 35% currency premium between the dollar and the euro,” states Sheeder.

YACHT CHARTER DISCOUNTS

The discounts also apply to more affordable yachts as well.  The 60′ catamaran NIRVANA is currently based in the Caribbean and can accommodate a group of 8 to 10 family and friends.  Her regular rate is €13,300 per week, but for remaining available dates in February and March, the rental rate is slashed by 15%.

BOOKMARK THE SITE

The specials are updated frequently, so visitors to the company’s website are encouraged to BOOKMARK THE www.1800yachtcharters.com SITE and check back often for more great offers!

WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!

What types of specials and discounts would you like to see offered?  Please send us your suggestions and comments at https://www.1800yachtcharters.com/book-now-contact-us/

FAR EAST YACHT CHARTER

The Far East is a place less traveled, far from the more popular cruising grounds of the Mediterranean. Its isolation and stunning beauty is part of the appeal.  This area presents rewards for those who venture forth to experience its wonders.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE FAR EAST

Expect towering pinnacles of stone jutting from emerald-colored seas.

Experience exotic flora and fauna.

Enjoy magnificent coral reefs.

Relax on secluded white-sand beaches.

Enjoy quiet in hidden bays and coves.

Meet the warm and delightful people that welcome cruisers.

WHY MONTIGNE?

Mega yacht MONTIGNE offers an elegant profile and classic lines. These classic features disguise her modern construction.  She offers the latest technology in her systems and equipment, as well.  The sail super yacht boasts total sail area of 720m² carried on the 3 masts and a 6-meter bow sprit, as well as being equipped with two 850hp engines, giving the vessel a range in excess of 4000 nautical miles under engine power alone.

The 10-meter beam of the yacht results in a very stable and comfortable platform and huge open deck spaces to give her charter guests maximum comfort. The vast top sundeck will be one of the yacht’s most poplar entertaining spots. It is a perfect place for sunbathing, relaxing or soaking in the Jacuzzi during the daytime and will be easily converted into party zone in the evenings.

A Thailand sailing vacation is a superb option for those seeking an adventure in an exotic and beautiful place a world away from the hustle and bustle of a busy life.

London Olympics Yacht Charters 2012

Posted on

Photograph of london 2012 olympics logoLONDON OLYMPICS

It is estimated that London’s roughly 120,000 hotel rooms are nowhere near enough.  This problem exists for the 2012 Olympic Games.  A lack of rooms means many visitors will be forced to stay in the English countryside.

WHERE TO STAY?

Savvy travelers, however, can choose an option that will put them within walking distance of the main stadium.  For instance, they select a private yacht.

THE MARINA

The Marina at the London Docklands plays host to dozens of the newest and largest motoryachts in the world during the Olympics.  The facility is two miles from Olympic Park and other venues for the games.

The Docklands accommodates boats from small bareboats to British navy ships and international cruise ships. Megayachts visit the marina, thus, dockmaster and his team are prepared to handle large vessels.

DOCKMASTER

Gareth Stephens is the dock manager for British Waterways.  The agency oversees England’s waterways.  He reports multiple berths are ready for the weeks immediately preceding the summer 2012 Olympics. According to Stephens,
“The Docklands can house yachts up to 170 meters (558 feet) with a 23-meter beam and eight-meter draft (75 feet and 26 feet, respectively).”

DOCKAGE

The number of available slips will ultimately depend on the sizes of vessels that make reservations for the games. Says Stephens,

“We are looking to accommodate a mix of cruise vessels and superyachts.”

Minimum dockage reservation period is 21 days.  London Olympics run from July 27 to August 12.  The required minimum booking period is July 24 to August 14. Stays starting before and/or ending after the minimum period are available.

MARINA FEATURES

Charges for a slip or quayside space depend on the length of a yacht. Daily rates are £1,000 (approx $1,547) for yachts under 25 meters (82 feet) to £11,000 (est $17,000) for vessels in the 125-150 meter (410- to 492-foot) range.

London Docklands offers full marina services and facilities. For instance, water, sewage, fuel bunkering, and garbage disposal. It also has riverboat and “Tube” connections.  The marina is then highly convenient for Olympic events and all major London attractions.

Pirates at Sea – A Concern?

Posted on

pirate. Photograph of a soldier carrying a rifle on a beach in front of a decrepid ship. The soldier is wearing a yellow t-shirt and red shawl around his head. You can see his dark skin on his arms and his eyes. The boat behind him is just the shell of a large ship.

PIRATES

Four Americans taken hostage by Somali pirates off East Africa were shot and killed.  This happened Tuesday when captors acted.  This marked the first time U.S. citizens have been killed in pirate attacks. These attacks plagued the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.

SHOULD YACHT CHARTER GUESTS BE CONCERNED?

On the contrary

WRITER COMMENTS

Travel writer K Kavin wrote how rare it is for pirates to attack charter yachts. “Piracy,” Kavin wrote, “simply is not a major concern among charter yachts operating in traditional cruising destinations, including the Western Mediterranean and Caribbean.”

Kavin is correct.  The events taking place this week aboard the private sailing yacht Quest have nothing to do with what charter guests can expect to experience. Why?  For example, because crewed sail boat charters and super yacht charters are not offered anywhere near the coast of Oman.

SOMALI PIRATES

Hijackings off the coast of Somalia accounted for 92% of all ship seizures in 2010 (source: International Chamber of Commerce). Somali pirates routinely attack yachts and commercial ships off the coast of Yemen and Somalia. This is very far from the traditional cruising grounds. These grounds include Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Italy and France.  They are a world away from the islands of the Caribbean.

INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Where to turn for information regarding incidents of piracy?  The International Chamber of Commerce issues reports about incidents of piracy on a worldwide basis.

CARIBBEAN MARITIME INFORMATION

For information more specific to the Caribbean, we recommend that you check out the Caribbean Maritime Mobile Net. The Net is essentially an informational service for cruisers in the Caribbean.  Caribbean cruisers run this.  The Net operates daily on 7.241 MHz from 1100Z to 1200Z. If anything is going on that cruisers need to know about in the Caribbean, for instance, this is where you turn.  This includes events in the Gulf of Mexico.

CARIBBEAN PUBLICATION

There’s also a fairly useful monthly publication entitled the Caribbean Compass.  You can find their online information at www.caribbeancompass.com.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO REDUCE PIRACY?

In conclusion, what to do to reduce or eliminate incidents of piracy at sea?  Please share your comments on our blog entry.

Seakeepers Yacht Owners Protect Oceans

Posted on

Logo for Seakeepers Ocean Protection Society

SEAKEEPERS AT WORK

SeaKeepers, a group of yacht owners, has an innovative option: a specially-designed sensing system for measuring sea changes.  The 70th annual Miami International Boat Show is set to take place this week. Many of the superyachts in Miami will offer plenty of luxury features, from hot tubs to helipads.

INNOVATION IN YACHTING

But a select few of the luxury yacht charter vessels in town for the show will boast an innovative option that allows owners do a little something good for the planet as their yachts cruise the playgrounds of the rich famous.

Many SeaKeepers yachts have sensing systems that automatically collect ocean and weather readings and stream them to worldwide scientists.

One of the SeaKeeper vessels, the $58 million motor yacht BIG FISH, owned by Hong Kong-based millionaire Richard Beattie, is in the midst of a polar circumnavigation, the first attempted by a private vessel.

Photograph of motoryacht BIG FISH underway, heading left and down to corner of photo

WHO OWNS LARGEST YACHTS?

Owners of some of the world’s largest yachts are members, including Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, Prince Khaled Bin Sultan, a member of Saudi Arabia’s royal family, publisher Steve Forbes, and Miami Heat and Carnival Cruise Lines owner, Micky Arison.

WHERE DID SEAKEEPERS ORIGINATE?

In 1998, yacht owners in Monaco discussed climate change, then they formed the nonprofit.  They then created a system so yachts could do oceanic research.

The SeaKeeper 1000, monitoring system cost millions of dollars. It was donated by the group’s founding members, scientists, and engineers at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. The system measures temperature, salinity, oxygen and acid in the ocean. It also gathers weather readings.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO PROTECT THE OCEAN?

The Seakeepers fight to protect the oceans, and as quoted by the Marine Conservation Institite,

“the ocean is the largest ecosystem on Earth. Living oceans absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and reduce climate change impact.”

Why not indulge yourself and rent a private yacht with crew over the Christmas holidays this year?

Should you opt for a Caribbean Bareboat Charter instead, you can enjoy the endless parties in the islands throughout the season.

THE ISLANDS ON HOLIDAY

During the holidays, the Caribbean islands come alive.
