Beyonce and Jay Z
While this mommy and daddy are well-known for enjoying numerous week-long mega yacht charter vacations at sea, a simple day excursion on the water was a great introduction for their infant daughter to the yachting lifestyle.
Beyonce, husband Jay-Z, and three month-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter spent the Easter holidays in one of the family’s favorite vacation enclaves – the island of St Barts.
The local paparazzi captured the parents boarding a small day charter vessel, with Blue Ivy in her mother’s arms, as they prepared to spend a lazy afternoon on the water.
Locals on St Barts are used to seeing the media power couple once or twice a year, their chartered superyacht docked along the quay. For the short Easter weekend, the family elected to stay in shoreside accommodations. But the yachting “itch” is powerful, and the couple took a perfect-weather day as an opportunity to go boating in the afternoon – and to take along their daughter for her first boat ride.
Perhaps we’ll see the family back in St Barts at year-end, enjoying another New Year’s Eve yachting vacation.

It was everything we had hoped and more. Richard and Adele who were the crew were topnotch. – two of the nicest people any of us had ever met. Their respect for us and the boat was superior. They went out of their way to show us the best of the BVI…beaches, snorkeling, sailing, caving, beach bars..it was all great.

Thinking of sheltering in place? First, in a remote destination? Second, in private? Third, on a luxury yacht charter vessel? Great thought, but STOP. Before you get your hopes up, we have a report. Getting on a yacht may be a BIG problem right now. This is a result of more islands closing their borders to yachts. It is particularly difficult for all.
Traditionally, spring is the most popular season for Caribbean yacht charters. We have fully-crewed superyachts in position. They are ready to accept guests. For example, from the Bahamas to Bonaire.
Unfortunately, the unexpected outbreak of a global viral pandemic has affected the industry. It brings the idea of a charter in the Caribbean to a screeching halt.
This started as travel advisories and then curfews. It morphed into full closures of most island nations in the Caribbean. This affects both air and sea access.
In some cases, charter guests already onboard may stay onboard. However, as of March 30, most charter vessels are restricted. Therefore, they cannot accept new guests in almost every inhabited island in the Caribbean. For instance, the British Virgin Islands and St. Marten.

Thanksgiving on catamaran yacht charter vacation
We have word from the crew of sail yacht catamaran BREANKER that they are also offering a special Thanksgiving charter – one with a unique twist.
Captain Kristian Søndergård and Chef/First Mate Marianne Rasmussen are Danish citizens with over 25 years of sailing experience. Their plan for a Thanksgiving charter is to prepare a traditional American-style turkey but serve authentic Danish side dishes for a bi-cultural holiday feast.
Marianne recently contacted us with the basic menu details. She said,
“We will serve Hassel baked potatoes with roasted sesame seeds, pickled cucumber salad, beet salad with walnuts, and warm sweet and sour red cabbage. These are all traditional Danish specialties. For dessert, we will serve Danish almond and rice pudding. It’s made with chopped almonds and one single whole almond in the bowl. The one who gets the almond wins a prize. This is a common dessert and game played in Denmark.“
To further “sweeten” the deal, Kristian and Marianne are offering a 10% price reduction off the regular charter rates for any full-week charter over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Sail catamaran BREANKER is priced at $14,500 per week for 2 to 4 passengers, $14,700 per week for 5 passengers, $14,900 per week for 6 passengers, $16,500 per week for 7 passengers, and finally, $17,500 per week for 8 guests. Charterers can take 10% off these rates. Price includes the yacht, crew, and all meals and ship’s bar and all local taxes.
What an incredible bonus! SCUBA is included in the price and offered for up to 6 passengers (must be certified divers). Gear is available for rent for just $150 per week per diver.

We just had a remarkable time on catamaran SURPRISE for three weeks…! Crossing the Gulf Stream, going to the ‘Stranded Naked Party’ and then winning three races at Regatta-Time-in-Abaco. Amazing!
