One of the yachting world’s most eagerly-awaited catamarans, sail yacht HEMISPHERE was launched in July 2011. Built at the Pendennis Shipyard in the United Kingdom, sail catamaran yacht HEMISPHERE held the record as the world’s largest luxury sailing catamaran.
Sail catamaran HEMISPHERE is 44.2 meters in overall length. Pendennis Shipyard Ltd teamed with leading multihull naval architects Van Peteghem Lauriot Prevost (VPLP) – designers of the 33rd America’s Cup winning multihull – to build and design the vessel. Renowned superyacht interior designers Michael Leach Design joined the team to handle the interior design duties. Together, these teams pooled their talents and expertise to build this groundbreaking yacht. The result of their efforts is an innovative design that blends speed and stability with space and style.
With a draft of just over 3 meters, the luxury sailing charter vessel can explore shallow draft destinations off limits to deeper draft superyachts.
Her decks and rigging are uncluttered, as visible deck hardware has been minimized and the 190 foot tall mast soars free of spreaders since all lines run internally, inside the mast. Tenders are stowed out of sight, adding to the clean deck lines. A port transom houses a full inventory of aquasport gear and a dive locker is served by a large hydraulic swim platform.
Built specifically for the Caribbean yacht charter market, the multihull boasts an enormous flybridge with Jacuzzi tub, sun pads and shaded dining. Complementing the flybridge is a roomy indoor/outdoor living area on the main deck.
Michael Leach Design’s relaxed, elegant interior is the epitome of contemporary styling and the catamaran’s amazing volume offers a high degree of luxury without a hint of glitz. Dark wood floors are offset by a neutral color scheme with many customized touches such as seventeen different types of granite and sixteen leather finishes. All of these surfaces come together to creating an inviting island-living ambience.
Accommodation for 10 to 12 guests are arranged in 5 cozy cabins, all with ensuite bathrooms.
