Sardinia Luxury Tax on Mediterranean Yacht Charter Vessels Abolished

Each week or so, we take a look at one or two of the finalists for the 2011 World Superyacht Awards. Many of the newest and largest yachts available for crewed yacht charter have been nominated.
BATON ROUGE is a nominee for Best Displacement Motor Yacht in the 60 to 84-meter range “yacht.”
This six-deck yacht boasts more volume than most other 63-meter luxury yacht charter vessels currently on the water. Motor yacht BATON ROUGE was built by Icon Yachts, and features the exterior styling of Tim Heywood, with interiors by Redman Whiteley Dixon.
Fully-stabilized and optimized in every respect for luxury living afloat, her extensive interior guest areas include multiple lounges and a choice of dining options, which cohesively encompass both townhouse elegance and beach house chic to suit one’s mood.
The yacht offers accommodation for 12 guests in 7 large cabins. The master is situated on the main deck, while two VIP cabins are on the upper deck. Two doubles and two convertible doubles/twins are found on the lower deck of yacht Baton Rouge.
The interior offers beautiful woods, leathers, marbles, and nickel and bronze details, as well as handcrafted furniture and original artwork. The vessel’s contemporary interior is considered both serene and stylish.
The exterior deck areas are nothing short of expansive, and they serve as great outdoor spaces for lounging and dining. There’s an ondeck hot tub on Baton Rouge, and a dedicated sundeck which converts to a party deck, as well as a beach club lounge at sea level.
State-of-the-art entertainment and communications systems exist throughout the yacht. For physical fitness buffs, there is a gym and a very comprehensive inventory of water toys and tenders.

Best Yacht Charter Hot Tubs
Today’s modern superyacht has every affluent amenity imaginable. For instance, from gymnasiums and helicopters, to onboard Kaleidescape movie theaters, The most requested amenity by charter guests remains the on-deck hot tub.
Is there a better way to unwind each night during a yachting vacation than enjoying a warm soak under the stars?
The benefits of hot tub hydrotherapy are well-documented – warm water therapy can promote relaxation, stress reduction and pain relief. It’s also a fun way to spend quality time with your travel companions – sipping wine and planning your next day’s adventures.
In the early years of the charter industry, most ondeck tubs were portable tubs – the same as those found in many homes. Today’s ondeck megayacht hydrotherapy tubs are permanent, built-in amenities, designed by naval architects and molded into the yacht’s superstructure.
Today we take a look at five of the best hydrotherapy tubs on five equally spectacular charter yachts:
The 228-foot motor yacht SHERAKHAN has one of the largest sundeck hot tubs aboard any charter yacht. The tub features an opaque bottom, allowing natural light to filter into the two-story dining room directly below.

ST. EKATERINA
Benetti yacht charter enthusiasts like to brag about the hot tub onboard the 196ft motor yacht ST. EKATERINA (formerly motor yacht XANADU). The large tub is within easy viewing distance of a two-way cinema screen. Charter guests can enjoy a film while soaking in the tub, and then not miss a single scene while moving over to the sundeck wet bar for a refreshing cocktail.
BATON ROUGE
The 205-foot Icon motor yacht BATON ROUGE features an oversized sundeck hot tub that doubles as an endless pool with swimming jets for anyone wanting more than the regular water pressure. Overhead, cool-water jets shower guests in a light, refreshing mist.
ANDREAS L
Another Benetti motor yacht, the 196ft yacht ANDREAS L has a hot tub with submerged bar stools, for guests who prefer to enjoy their refreshments sitting upright as opposed to the common hot tub lounging position.

NUMPTIA
Leave it to the Italians to redefine the modern style of the ondeck hot tub. The owner of the 70 meter (230 ft) Rossi Navi motor yacht HIGH POWER III (ex-Numptia) turned to Design Studio Spadolini, of Florence to create a modern hot tub masterpiece. The floor-level tub and endless-style pool is the centerpiece on the yacht’s sun deck, and features colored mood lighting, an infinity glass edge on one side, and two powerful waterfall-style showers dropping volumes of water into the pool.

Motoryacht BATON ROUGE
Hoping to counterbalance her carbon footprint, the owner of Trinity motor yacht BATON ROUGE has introduced a policy of carbon offsetting her fuel.
“This commitment to a greener future is also an acknowledgment of the high expectations of the yacht’s charter clients,” says luxury yacht charter maven, Jana Sheeder. “The carbon offsets of the yacht’s engines with equivalent emissions reductions from verified green energy projects allows clients to integrate their own commitment to sustainability into their vacation experience.”
Joss de Rohan Willner, captain of the 63-meter motor yacht BATON ROUGE wanted to address the yacht’s environmental procedures.
“We decided to address her greenhouse gas emissions through a program of carbon offsetting. The approach needed to be practical, effective and flexible to suit the yacht’s busy schedule. We are pleased to be working with Yacht Carbon Offset to introduce this measure for 2012.”
Yacht Carbon Offset’s Managing Director Mark Robinson said: “We are delighted that Baton Rouge has selected Yacht Carbon Offset to neutralize the carbon footprint from her engines. For such a prominent and active yacht, it is natural for environmental performance to be a priority. We thank the Owner’s team and all on board for their support”
