THE WINNERS

Elegant CMN Yacht CLOUD 9 was just one luxury yacht charter vessel to catch the attention of the judges at the recent ShowBoats Design Awards. Of the 10 winning private yacht entries, 6 are currently available for either Caribbean or Mediterranean yacht charter.  The newest and largest yachts in the rental marketplace improves every year, as owners push the design envelope to new heights.

THE YACHT RENTAL AWARDS CEREMONY

The inaugural yacht awards ceremony took place in October at the exclusive Mar A Lago Club.  The facility is Donald Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Florida. It was sponsored by ShowBoats International.   It began with a two-day Superyacht Design Symposium.  On the 3rd day, 350 guests enjoyed an evening of cocktails. The evening also featured a gala dinner and an awards ceremony honoring the yachting industry’s creative talents. Those talents included architects, designers, stylists, craftsmen, and innovators in yacht technologies.

ShowBoats Design Awards came about as a former part of the Boat International Media World Superyacht Awards.  They introduced a number of new categories. The jury included 4 superyacht owners, 2 naval architects, a senior yacht captain, an experienced yacht chef, and six design professionals with no links to the industry. The awards resulted from more than 200 yacht nominations.

Joining the 60-meter charteryacht Cloud 9 on the winner’s stage were:

  • HURRICANE RUN – Best Interior Design: Displacement Motor Yacht
  • SLIPSTREAM –  along with sistership CLOUD 9 – Best Exterior Design & Styling: Motor Yacht

THE NEXT AWARDS SHOW

The next yacht award event is the 2011 World Superyacht Awards, and it will be hosted by the editors of Boat International Media.  The awards honor the finest new vessels delivered to their owners in the past twelve months.  The award presented is The Neptune Award, or the “Oscar” of the megayacht industry.

The ceremony is scheduled for May 7, 2011, and it is attended by yacht owners from around the globe. Others who attend are influential players in the boating business.

CHARTERYACHT FINALISTS

62 finalists are in contention to receive a coveted Neptune Trophy, including the 56-meter Panthalassa and the 60-meter MARY JEAN II.

White superstructure.Looking for a last minute European getaway before the kids head back to school?  If you are, one of the most popular Mediterranean yacht charter vessels is offering a deep discount to woo your interest.

From August 15th, motor yacht CLOUD 9 is offering 14 days for the price of 12 – a savings of over €100,000.  To further entice you, the yacht will waive all delivery fees for a cruise in Croatia and/or Greece.

Stylish and exceptionally comfortable with 5-star cuisine, CMN line 60 yacht CLOUD 9 boasts a huge Owner’s suite, a VIP stateroom with a balcony, as well as a gymnasium and plenty of watertoys.

Oh – we almost forgot, the yacht just installed a brand new waterslide!

Scottish-born Captain, Colin Boyle, has created a special, scenic sample itinerary for a charter commencing in Split and concluding 14 nights later in Zante!  Take a look at the first three days of this Eastern Mediterranean adventure:

DAY 1 – SPLIT
Join CLOUD 9 in Split – a 20 minute drive from the international airport.  Immediate departure for a nearby anchorage to swim and relax. Remain at anchor overnight.

DAY 2 – HVAR
Hvar – truly one of the highlights of Croatia. The city has an extraordinary history and a great social atmosphere. The tiny harbor fills quickly with anchored yachts and we must arrive at noon. We’ll dinghy our guests ashore where they will find vineyards, lavender fields, walks and clean beaches. For the evening, Hvar offers great cafes and restaurants – and the best in Croatian wine.  The bars and cafes remain open late into the night.

DAY 3 – KORCULA
Depart Hvar for a passage to Korcula, the home of Marco Polo. Once at anchor, the protected bay is the perfect place for a day of watersports and swimming.  After dinner, we’ll dinghy ashore to walk the ancient streets to window shop and listen to the street musicians.

Aerial photograph of Korcula Island in Croatia, Picture shows a huge castle. There are 2 large sailboats docked on the left side of the island. Their sails are down. There is a large wooded island at the back off the picture, across from Korcula.

DAY 4 – MLJET NATIONAL PARK
An early morning passage brings us to the Mljet National park, a peaceful, and beautiful anchorage.  Here, we’ll find steep, rocky slopes covered with dense pine forests that hide a 12th century monastery built on a small island in the middle of a lake.  That’s right, an island on an island! The lake is generally 4 degrees warmer than the sea, and a good place to swim. Hiking, guided tours and bike rentals are also available.

All that in the first 4 days – imagine what adventures might be in store for the next 10 days???!
