Posted onWe first profiled motor yacht EXUMA, and we were skeptical of a builder known for launching luxury sailing charter vessels. Other yachts built by this manufacturer are MELEK and PANTHALASSA.
All doubts were erased about designer once the project was completed. Firstly, motor yacht EXUMA is award-winning. She earned the Motoryacht of the Year at the World Superyacht Awards 2011. Secondly, the 50 meter poweryacht was also named Best Displacement Motoryacht under 500 gross tons. Her builder? The Perini Navi Group, typically known for sailing yachts.
The yacht accommodates 8 to 9 guests, and she is currently in Tahiti. She is available for charter until early August. After some use by her owner, she will again be available from mid September to late October in Fiji.
Exuma has a very low draft. She can access anchorages too shallow for most large yachts. Moreover, her shallow draft enables her to explore the reefs of French Polynesia.
Unique onboard toys include a Hovercraft, underwater Seabob scooter, an electric moped, and Amphibious jeep. Unique, indeed!

“unparalleled in terms of interior space design and deck organization. There are large spaces dedicated to ensuring privacy among guests, and plenty of room to store the yacht’s sizable watertoy equipment inventory.“

Posted onSome of the newest and largest yachts for hire win awards. They starred at the sixth annual World Superyacht Awards. This was in London, May 7, 2011.
Sixteen new yachts were honored. Nine are available for hire. These are in popular vacation destinations around the world. The 50 meter EXUMA was co-winner of the prestigious,”Motor Yacht of the Year,” with yacht, Eclipse.
The Neptune awards are considered the “Oscars of the yacht industry.” The evening ceremony took place at London’s historic Guildhall. The glittering gala was attended by a distinguished guest list. For instance, over 500 yacht owners and naval architects. Also included were designers, their families, and friends. With this in mind, it was an amazing event.
Silver Neptune trophies went to owners of sail and motor yachts delivered in 2010. For instance, Kokomo (sailboat) and Sycara V (motoryacht).
Jana Sheeder, President of SailAway and 1-800 Yacht Charters beamed as the final award was announced.
“We are so proud to represent for charter nine of the winning yachts,” said Sheeder. “This is a great testament to the talents and keen eye of our charter department. Our team spends countless hours identifying potential yachts for hire. We look at nearly one hundred vessels each year, hoping to discover 10 to 20 new yachts that exemplify elegant design and luxurious amenities. It is these yachts – the best of the best – that we present to our clients for their yachting vacations.”

Posted onAs the year draws to a close, luxury yacht charter maven Jana Sheeder, President of SailAway Yacht Charter Consultants and 1-800 Yacht Charters, is beaming.
“We’ve closed our year with the addition of 40 brand new 2011 models to our global network of yacht charter vessels. The largest of our new offerings is the 81 meter Feadship motor yacht AIR, followed by Proteksan Turquoise yacht TALISMAN MAITON (ex-Talisman C) and Rossi Navi motor yacht HIGH POWER III (ex-Numptia), both 70 meters in overall length.”
With a reputation for offering the newest and largest yachts in the world’s best destinations, Sheeder and her teams spend countless hours identifying potential charter yachts.
“Rarely do we add any yacht to our fleet that is more than two to three years old, “ says Sheeder. “Even when we consider classic-styled yachts, we prefer to promote modern reproductions of famous yachts. Clients know they can turn to us for yachts that are on the cutting edge of new technology and styling.”
An example of Sheeder’s pursuit of modern yachts is the newly launched 47 meter sail yacht GERMANIA NOVA, a replica of a classic racing schooner first launched in 1908. Says Sheeder,
“Turn of the century guests onboard the original yacht would marvel at the technological comforts onboard this modern vessel. From satellite televisions to 5.1 Dolby surround sound, the only thing ‘old’ on this yacht is the classic design.”
Many of the new yachts are award winners in global design competitions, such as the annual ShowBoats Design Awards.
“We pay close attention to these competitions,” reports Sheeder. “The best designers and naval architects in the world judge these yachts. Odds are great that if the best minds in the industry like a boat, our clients will, too.”
Recent award winners promoted by SailAway to their clients include late 2010 launch Perini Navi motor yacht EXUMA (Best Exterior Design & Styling Award: Displacement Motor Yachts 100-199), and the 42 meter Holland Jachtbouw motor yacht CALLIOPE (Best Exterior Design & Styling Award: Semi-displacement Motor Yachts).
As to the new year, Sheeder is even more optimistic.
“Our research indicates that 72 new megayachts were ordered in 2011, the largest at 100 meters, and an average length of almost 43 meters. Eighty per cent of these newly-built yachts will be launched in 2012 or 2013, and we’ll surely have an entirely new inventory of yachts-for-hire to present to our discriminating clientele!”
