282 Foot Spielberg Yacht SEVEN SEAS For Sale

Posted on

Call it, “Life imitating art.”  When under siege by a great white shark in the 1975 film, JAWS, actor Roy Scheider’s character exclaimed, ‘We’re gonna need a bigger boat.’

It seems the film’s director Steven Spielberg has taken that sentiment to heart, as his 282 foot superyacht is up for sale, and it is scheduled to be replaced with an even larger vessel.

The Spielberg yacht SEVEN SEAS, built in 2010 by Dutch yard Oceanco, has lived up to its name. In 2013, the famous director, his wife Kate Capshaw, and their seven children took the yacht on a 30,000-mile round-the-world cruise.

Over the years, many famous Hollywood celebrities have been guests onboard the yacht, including Gwyneth Paltrow, and Leonardo DiCaprio.  According to the UK’s Daily News, a friend of the director said, Steven didn’t realize how much he’d enjoy cruising the ocean. Now he’d like to spend more time exploring the seas, and bring a few friends along for the ride. So he’s upgrading to a bigger yacht.”

When not in use by Spielberg and his family, the Monaco yacht charter vessel is available for hire. This season’s charter rate in the Mediterranean is $1.2 million per week. “She has always been a favorite charter yacht,” says Jana Sheeder, President and yacht charter Maven of 1-800 Yacht Charters.

If you’re considering renting the yacht this summer, you might have to wait until September, as the legendary director and his family have spent a considerable portion of their summer vacation onboard, and were recently spotted taking in the sites of Portofino, Italy.  Even the family dog is along for the ride.

Lucky pooch!

Ah, life is good for film star Leonardo DiCaprio.  Dating “Gossip Girl” actress Blake Lively, we first caught a glimpse of Leo relaxing onboard motoryacht SEVEN SEAS, Steven Spielberg‘s multi-million dollar superyacht, during the recent Cannes Film Festival 2011.

Now we hear di Caprio is about to take delivery of a 2012 Fisker Karma hybrid luxury sports sedan.  And not just any Fisker Karma – the very first one ever built.

The actor is known for leading the green enviro movement in Hollywood, and his latest toy, like his Toyota Prius is built with sustainability in mind. The Karma is designed by Henrik Fisker, formerly of Aston Martin, and has been developed around an aluminium chassis.

The plug-in Karma is driven by a a pair of electric motors totaling 403hp, powered by a 22 kWh lithium ion battery, or a 175kW generator turned by a 2.2L gas engine.

Even with its eco-friendly background, the Karma features a 125 mph top speed and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

Also waiting in line for his own hybrid is Al “An Inconvenient Truth” Gore.

Just imagine the buzz if Leo were to invest in a hybrid mega yacht charter vessel?!

Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio SailAway Onboard Steven Spielberg Yacht

Luxury yacht charter guests Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake Lively join Steven SpielbergApparently, actress Blake Lively is not letting the internet rumor-mill ruin quality time with new beau, Leonardo DiCaprio.

While gossip websites circulated a series of photographs purporting to show the “Gossip Girl” actress posing naked, Blake and Leo were seen relaxing and laughing onboard motoryacht SEVEN SEAS, Spielberg’s multi-million dollar superyacht, during the recent Cannes Film Festival 2011.

Lively’s spokeswoman issued a statement saying the photos aren’t real.  “The photos of Blake Lively which have just surfaced on various websites … are 100 percent FAKE,” the spokeswoman said. “Blake has never taken nude photos of herself.

The Internet was abuzz last week, as the five photos of a naked, busty blond taking snapshots of herself with an iPhone in front of a bathroom mirror spread among major celeb-watcher websites.  Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton wrote, “Blake Lively won’t be happy about this,” while site Zap2It, suggested the pictures were several years old.Lively will take legal action against any outlets that publish the photos, the spokeswoman added.

Lively rose to fame in the teen television soap “Gossip Girl.” Earlier this year she was hired as the new face of Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbag ad campaign.

The actress had a chance to take a break from the hustle of the film fest and relax at sea with Leo and his good friend Lukas Haas onboard Steven Spielberg’s 282 foot vessel.  At one point, Lively was seen enjoying a big laugh with Di Caprio before getting a warm hug from the Hollywood leading man.The former Mediterranean yacht charter vessel, motor yacht SEVEN SEAS was originally put into charter after her launch in late 2010.  At the time, she was on of the largest yachts available for hire.  Since then, her famous owner had a change of heart and decided to keep the yacht for private use only…at least for now.

Celebrity Yacht Charter | DiCaprio On Yacht With Bikini-Clad Women

Posted on

Poor Leo.  After being snubbed by the Oscar voters, the “Django Unchained” star was hard at work, toiling away like the rest of us 9 to 5 lunch-pailers.

Well…maybe “toiling” is not the right word.

DiCaprio, who skipped the Academy Awards ceremony, was seen lounging on a docked yacht in southern California on Monday, surrounded by bikini-clad women.
The actor went without a nomination for his work in Django, but co-star Christoph Waltz picked up the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, while director Quentin Tarantino snared an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

DiCaprio is no stranger to yachting, beautiful women on superyachts, or our blog.   He has been known to enjoy luxury sailing charter vacations to remote locales such as Cuba, and is often seen onboard Mediterranean yacht charter vessels such as the Steven Spielberg yacht, SEVEN SEASRemember Leo’s spending time with friend Blake Lively onboard motor yacht Seven Seas in 2011??
Leo was onboard, reshooting scenes for his upcoming movie, “The Wolf of Wall Street.”  Sporting white linen pants, sunglasses, and a slicked-back 80’s hairstyle, the 38 year-old actor portrays real-life stockbroker, Jordan Belfort, in the Martin Scorsese film about Belfort and his role in the Wall Street fraud case in the 1980’s.
Five women in bathing suits joined Leo on the yacht for the re-shoot, including co-star Margot Robbie, dressed in an eye-catching gold one-piece bathing suit with a plunging neckline.  Robbie plays Belfort’s wife, Nadine.

At one point, Leo was spotted kissing Margot for the cameras. Photo of Leonardo DiCaprio on the deck of a yacht, surrounded by girls in bikinis. He is kissing a blond in a gold bikini.

Hollywood Icon Takes Own Luxury Yacht to Cannes Film Festival

Posted on

Why rent a private yacht to attend the world’s preeminent film festival when you can stay onboard your own superyacht?

That’s exactly what Steven Spielberg did – opting to stay aboard his 282′ luxury yacht charter vessel, motor yacht SEVEN SEAS, during the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival, which took place in Cannes, France.

The legendary film producer and director spent most nights onboard the Oceanco motor yacht SEVEN SEAS, along with wife, Kate Capshaw.

Spielberg served as the President of the film jury for the main competition.

When asked about his role as head of the jury, Spielberg replied, “It is an honor and a privilege to preside over the jury of a festival that proves, again and again, that cinema is the language of the world.”

Aerial view of motoryacht with blue hull and white superstructure underwayWhile other A-list celebs were forced to navigate the crowded streets of Cannes and the endless sea of paparazzi, Spielberg and his guests escaped each evening to the privacy of  a, “floating villa.”  Spielberg yacht SEVEN SEAS offers accommodations for 12 guests and is loaded with amenities.

The infinity swimming pool on her aft deck can conveniently be transformed into a full helipad, or used as a screen for viewing movies while on deck or in the pool, itself.

Some of our readers may remember first reading about yacht SEVEN SEAS in June, 2011, while Leo DiCaprio and then-steady Blake Lively were onboard.  Later that same summer, the Mediterranean yacht charter vessel was again in the news when the Steven Spielberg yacht ran afoul of the Italian Coast Guard while guest Gwyneth Paltrow was visiting.

After the film festival concluded, the yacht and her owner planned to spend several weeks privately cruising the Mediterranean before heading back to the United States.

Sea Creature Reveals Way to Fight Greenhouse Gas

Posted on

Move over Al, Leo, and the rest of the politicos and A-listers working to, “save the planet.”  The next great green enviro hero might just be a tiny little creature who lives in the sea.  Photo collage of Leonardo diCaprio standing next to his new silver hybrid sportscar. A third photo in the collage is of the same sportscar on a racetrack.
As scientists scamble to find cost-effective ways to reduce atmospheric CO2 levels, a group of researchers from the U.K.’s Newcastle University may have stumbled across a way to achieve this – thanks to the humble sea urchin.
Photograph of a large red sea urchin and 3 small purple sea urchins on a rock in front of it. Photo taken underwater
That’s right – the sea urchin – the same little fella commonly seen while snorkeling during a Virgin Islands yacht charter vacation.
Here’s the connection between science and the spiny “brillo pad of the sea:”
The most effective way to eliminate CO2 from entering the atmosphere is to convert it into harmless calcium carbonate. By chance, Dr Lidija Šiller, a physicist at Newcastle University, was looking at the way in which organisms absorb CO2 into their skeletons. She discovered the sea urchin converts CO2 into calcium carbonate to form its endoskeleton.
It turns out urchins have a high concentration of nickel on their armor-coated exoskeletons (their outer skin).  The nickel acts as a catalyst to create a reaction between water and CO2  – known as the carbonic acid reaction.  This reaction results in the complete removal of CO2 – and the creation of calcium carbonate necessary for the urchins healthy internal skeletal system.
It’s this nickel catalyst that has researchers absolutely giddy.  Gaurav Bhaduri, a PhD student in Newcastle University’s School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials states, “…a Nickel catalyst…because of its magnetic properties can be recaptured and reused time and time again. It’s also very cheap…and the by-product, the carbonate, is useful and not damaging to the environment.”
So, the next time you are lounging on the sundeck of your Caribbean yacht charter vessel and you spot a tiny little urchin slippping along under the waves, give him a quick wink of the eye, and remember – so much of what makes our world great comes from the sea…
