Sustainability means avoiding depletion of natural resources to maintain an ecological balance. The push for sustainability in the yacht industry is a result.
A design studio is now building hybrid propulsion green luxury yacht charter super yachts.
GREEN STAR DESIGN
Guido de Groot Design and Intec Marine are proposing two revolutionary concepts for propulsion; as a result, they tout increased energy efficiency, lower noise, and CO2 emissions in boats. The Intec Marine hybrid propulsion concept uses electric propulsion; therefore using two generators. An additional smaller engine is used for calm water or at anchor.
GREEN STAR DESIGN IN USE
Take for example a Monaco Grand Prix yacht, rented to be dockside for the race. The boat then goes out cruising the Côte d’Azur. At cruising speed, one generator creates power for the two propulsion pods. It also powers the interior (cabin lights, televisions, galley, etc.). This results in very low noise levels, estimated at 35 dBA.
The batteries enable the yacht to cruise out of the marina at 6 knots. Simply start the redundant second generator for the yacht to reach maximum speed. The smaller, third generator runs at anchor.
HOW DOES GREEN STAR WORK?
Designers expect a 30% reduction of energy use as compared to a conventional setup. The setup uses three diesel engines continuously running (two for propulsion and one for interior load).
AWARD FOR GREEN STAR COMPLIANCE
Yachts featuring Intec Marine hybrid propulsion receive the RINA marine green star design certificate for environmental excellence.
Italian-built superyacht OLAH revved everyone’s engines recently. The owner announced a 25% price reduction AND a secured trackside berth for the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix.
The 47.5 meter yacht originally offered a 5-day race package for Euro € 159,000. She then reduced that price to Euro € 120,000 for 5 nights, including the berth. All running expenses, such as fuel, food, and bar, are extra.
WHO IS THIS ITALIAN SUPERYACHT?

Yacht OLAH (x-KOLAHA) accommodates up to 10 guests. She can host up to 40 guests while in port for race watching and corporate cocktail receptions.
SPECIAL EVENT YACHT CHARTERS
Yacht charters are one of the most popular ways of experiencing special events like the Monaco Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, Mipim, or Fashion Weeks.
The biggest race on the F1 circuit is just six weeks away, but there is still time to score a yacht and a berth in the heart of the action.
MONACO GRAND PRIX POPULARITY
Rivaling the Super Bowl as a top-tier corporate hospitality venue, dockage at the Monaco Grand Prix is now at a premium, but there is still a great selection of Mediterranean yacht charter vessels available for this ultimate racing experience.
APACHE II SUPERYACHT
Baglietto yacht APACHE II holds a confirmed berth on the T-Jetty, with excellent views of the course and JumboTron giant video screen.
Sleek and sophisticated, 44 meter motor yacht APACHE II boasts a contemporary interior that comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests in five well-appointed cabins. Her roomy sun deck offers 360 degree panoramic views – and the best seat in the house. MONACO GRAND PRIX F1 RACE BACKGROUND
Taking place since 1929, the Monaco F1 GP is widely considered to be one of the most significant and famous automobile races in the world. The race is held on a narrow course laid out in the streets of Monaco, with several elevation changes, tight corners and a tunnel, making it one of the most challenging tracks on the Formula One circuit. Although average speeds are quite low, the city street circuit remains a dangerous place to race.
HOW TO BOOK A GRAND PRIX YACHT CHARTER
Monaco Grand Prix dockage still available! Come experience the most glamorous and exciting Grand Prix in the World, Thursday, May 26 through Sunday, May 29, 2011. Contact our charter specialists HERE today!
Watching an auto race is exhilarating. The elements of speed and danger seem fused together by the power of high-torque engines and the drivers with nerves of steel. But let’s be honest – sitting in the hot grandstands with thousands of strangers is less than the ideal way to view the glamour, the cars, and the grid girls of a Formula 1 event.
Thus, it’s little wonder why the Port Hercule marina in Monaco is filled to capacity in May for the annual running of theMonaco Grand Prix. With the cars zipping by the marina, there’s no doubt the best seat in the house is on a luxury yacht.
Unfortunately, the rest of the 2011 Formula 1™ races take place on tracks far removed from the oceanside. That is, all but one other – the 2011 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
YACHTS HEADED TO ABU DHABI FOR RACE
It’s rare for a Mediterranean yacht charter vessel to make the sojourn to the Middle East, but one superyacht is anxious to secure a reservation for the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – motoryacht JANA.
The classic 46 meter Feadship is actively seeking a booking for the November 11-13 racing event.
Built in 1986, the yacht has received several refits throughout her charter career, the most recent being in 2009, in which she had the majority of her hull and superstructure repainted and most of her of soft furnishings replaced. The Dutch-built masterpiece accommodates 10 – 12 guests in 5 cabins. With a large sun deck, motor yacht JANA can easily host race day soirees for 20 to 40 guests.
COMPANY PRESIDENT COMMENT
According to Jana Sheeder, President of SailAway Yacht Charters and 1-800 Yacht Charters,
“This yacht offers the best in accommodations, cuisine, amenities, and service, plus she has a wide array of aquasport toys for guests to enjoy in the warmth of the Middle Eastern sun.”
The yacht is available for the Grand Prix at the rate of €100,000 for 5 days, plus running expenses (items such as food, bar, dockage, etc.).
Sheeder says her office will assist in securing a premium berth to view the race.
“We have a first-class team in place to handle all concierge-related requests, from dockage – to ground transportation – to catering a cocktail reception on the yacht.”
RACE DETAILS IN ABU DHABI
The race takes place on the Yas Marina Circuit, located on Yas Island, about 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Approximately 50,000 spectators can view the action on the circuit from permanent, covered grandstands that protect visitors from the desert sun. Of course, the best viewing areas are the most secure and private – the decks of the yachts in the Yas Marina.
The circuit is 5.55 kilometers long, with a total of 21 corners with 9 right turns and 12 left turns. The track features a lot of hairpins and long straights, and there are few potential overtaking places. The pit lane entry is very challenging, as is the exit, which runs underneath the track in a tunnel.
The world’s largest indoor theme park, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, is also located on Yas Island. The park hosts more than 20 rides and attractions. One of the attractions, Formula Rossa, has the same G force one would feel driving in an F1 car and braking at maximum speed. It is the world’s fastest roller coaster, powered through the 2.07 km track at speeds up to 240 km/h, reaching 0-100 km/h in less than two seconds.
Sheeder believes the popularity of Abu Dhabi is on the rise, and a Grand Prix yacht charter is a great opportunity to explore the area by yacht. “In addition to the race and related social events onboard motoryacht JANA, there is so much to see and do in Abu Dhabi,” says Sheeder. “The people are warm and hospitable and the weather in November feels like the summer in the Med.”
The Mediterranean yacht charter marketplace is bursting at the seams with over a dozen new builds in the past 12 months. Many of the newest yachts have been delivered to their owners and the luxury yacht charter crews are busy preparing these mega yachts for their Mediterranean yacht charter season.
BENETTI YACHTS
The eagerly awaited Benetti mega yacht AMNESIA and superyacht CRN Ancona MARAYA have now been launched to great acclaim. The 196.8′ (60m) megayacht AMNESIA is chartering in Croatia. In addition, she goes to southern Italy for the summer, as well. After that, she heads to the Caribbean for winter.
MARAYA
Super yacht MARAYA translates as “many mirrors.” She spends part of 2008 in luxury yacht charter service. Her crew of 15 is eager to put in a full summer. In particular, offering customers either a French Rivera yacht charter, or a Croatia yacht charter. The Monaco Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival are close. The volumes of deck space on this superyacht make her ideal as a corporate event yacht.
AICON SPA YACHT
A number of smaller, more intimate yachts, suitable for 4 to 6 passengers, are eager to enter. Specifically, both the Western and Eastern Mediterranean, and Turkey and Greece yacht charter markets this summer. Leading the way is the 2009 speedy 23 meter Aicon Spa yacht ENCORE, with accommodations for 6 to 8 guests.
MISTER JINGLES
The super-charged yacht MISTER JINGLES, also built in 2009 and will be cruising from the French Riviera on down to the Amalfi coast at a blistering 35 knots.

Here are several yachts from the 1-800 Yacht Charter database scheduled to be on display:

At last, MIPIM yacht and Monaco Grand Prix yacht charter enthusiasts have another superyacht for their consideration.
The 38m super yacht ODYSSEY is now based in San Remo, Italy.
Her new close proximity to Monaco makes this one of the largest yachts available for Monaco Grand Prix charters, as well as static event charters in Cannes, France, such as the 2010 MIPIM.
Built in 2008 by Italy’s Rodriquez yard, she sleeps up to 11 guests in five cabins and has proven her worth as a Mediterranean yacht charter megayacht.
Asking 11 million Euros, superyacht ODYSSEY is now available for inspection by prior appointment for both sale and charter.
OK, it’s time for all of our gearhead buddies to come clean. We know the only reason you call us each year to book a yacht for theMonaco Grand Prix. Your wives have zero interest in sitting in the stands with hundreds of strangers, watching F1 racers zip by.
WHAT YOUR LADIES DESERVE
We understand. A yacht docked along the quay with amenities like ondeck hot tub and luxurious sun lounges gives your ladies what they want and deserve. It also gives you and your friends unobstructed views of the street track.
COMPROMISE
It’s that spirit of “compromise” when it comes to racing that caught our attention with this new item.
BRING ON THE ESPRESSO!
Our editor walked in this morning with a photo of the Espresso Veloce Machine. It is an espresso machine billed as a tribute to the 1990’s Grand Prix race car engines. These machines powered racing legends like Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.
VELOCE – means “fast” in Italian
CONSTRUCTION
The Espresso Veloce Machine construction of race-world alloys includes magnesium, titanium, and aluminum. It is about half the size of a real-life 3-liter racing engine. The machine comes in both a V10 and V12 configuration. The oil-filler doubles as a grappa reservoir. Coffee serves through the exhaust tubes.
And get this. The mug designs complement the overall theme!
PRODUCTION
Production is limited to just 500 numbered units worldwide. No word yet on the price or anticipated shipping dates.
THE REAL TRICK
Now the real trick – getting your wife to toss the LavAazza. Replace it on the kitchen counter with this bad boy!!! 😉
The rush is on to book a last minute Monaco Grand Prix yacht!
SPECIAL EVENTS
As the dates draw closer for Europe’s premier Formula 1 Grand Prix and similar special events such as the Cannes Film Festival, charter customers are cautioned to first concentrate on where they will dock their rental yacht.
COMPANY PRESIDENT COMMENTS
“When a customer contacts us to rent a Monaco Grand Prix yacht, we immediately focus on securing a berth in Port Hercules, the only marina adjacent to the race course,” says Jana Sheeder, President of 1-800 Yacht Charters and The SailAway Group. “The only way to view the race from the deck of a yacht is to be moored in the marina, preferably in Zone 1, closest to the track and Jumbotron.”
Dock space in the port is reserved via a written application. It can take up to 5 weeks to process, unless you are a race team sponsor.
“It doesn’t matter if you want to attend the Grand Prix in Monaco or the Film Festival in Cannes, you must make it a priority to secure a berth many weeks, if not months, prior to the event,” reports Sheeder. “We hear horror stories where people have rented a yacht only to find their charter broker did not secure dockage at the marina closest to the special event location.”
WHICH YACHT HAS SECURE DOCKAGE?
Nearly all available dockage is already reserved for the Grand Prix. Sheeder and her team found yachts available for the race AND have secure dockage.
“We have several yachts, such as the 26 meter JACKIE ONE, available for the race and with a secured berth in Zone 1, right next to the race course,” claims Sheeder.
JACKIE ONE
The 82 foot Amer motoryacht JACKIE ONE has event dockage.
EXTERIOR
She combines elegance with comfort and space. Maiora gave her a refit in 2007 to add features. For instance, the yacht now has a large hydro-massage Jacuzzi.
INTERIOR
SALON – Her salon features comfort, entertainment, width, and home theatre. It has large windows and refined furnishings. Meal service alternates betwen the dining table in the salon, inside the cockpit, at the back on the aft deck, and above, on the upper deck.
DOCKSIDE
The yacht can host up to 30 passengers for watching the race or for evening cocktail parties. She has four spacious cabins with accommodations for 8 overnight guests.
RATE
Motoryacht JACKIE ONE is offering a reduced rate for the Grand Prix of Monaco. She lowered her rate from €25,000 EUROS. Her 4-day rate for Monaco Grand Prix is now €20,000 EUROS. This includes secured berth for the race. The yacht is VAT exempt. Her running expenses, such as food and bar, are additional.

Looking for a way to entertain potential clients during the upcoming Venice Film festival 2015? Nothing says, “Thank you for the opportunity” to a prospect quite as well as a soiree onboard a multi-million euro megayacht.
SUPERYACHT FORCE BLUE
The Festival runs from September 2 through 12, and the Royal Denship yacht FORCE BLUE is available for hire in Venice and is offering a discounted rate to secure a booking. Normally priced at €235,000 per week in September, the 207 foot yacht has lowered her price to €195,000 per week (a savings of €40,000).
GLAMOUR AND BUZZ
Along with Cannes, Venice has long been considered one of Europe’s most glamorous, buzzy film events. A-list celebrities, but more importantly, film makers and buyers attend in the hopes of securing lucrative deals to promote and release independently produced movies.
CHARTERING FOR EVENTS TAKES PREPARATION
To charter a yacht for a special event normally takes many months of advance logistical planning, and securing dockage next to an event venue often requires a reservation a year or so in advance. Fortunately, it is easier to secure last minute space in Venice, as the abundance of waterways make it easier to use the yacht’s tenders to get to and from onshore venues.
THE YACHTS ARE THE VENUE
Large yachts like Royal Denship FORCE BLUE become a venue unto themselves. They serve as a place to conduct private business negotiations. Also, charterers entertain business associates and prospective clients onboard. With numerous entertainment areas, both inside the yacht and on her massive deck, hundreds of guests can gather to socialize. After the guests leave, the charterer and a select number of special guests (totalling 12 or fewer) can use the yacht as a private floating hotel – with a full-time staff of 19 onboard to attend to meals and cater to the guests’ every whim.
ONBOARD AMENITIES OF FORCE BLUE
The yacht’s onboard amenities include onboard cinema (perfect for private film screenings), full gymnasium, hairdresser’s room, and a spa center, featuring Hamman steam shower, mud bath, sauna, hydro massage Jacuzzi, and massage room.
UPGRADE THOSE GATHERINGS
Social gatherings can be upgraded to full-scale dance parties. The yacht’s aft bridge deck can be transformed into a disco. There is a professional DJ station complete with psychedelic lights and disco woofer speakers.
Choose to lay a white carpet down on the dance floor, if you wish. This allows guests to dance with their shoes on. Most yachts do NOT allow guests to wear shoes on deck.
AND DON’T FORGET THIS YACHT TRAIT
There is one component that makes the yacht hire so unique and practical. In specific, total privacy. No one steps onboard a yacht without the Charter’s permission. This discreet venue means businesspeople can negotiate deals in seclusion. Additionally, they entertain special guests. All of this away from the attention of gawkers, competitors, and the paparazzi.
