Luxury Yacht Charter: Monokinis Set Trend for Summer Luxury Yachting Swimwear

Posted on

It seems each spring, one of our most popular blog topics is the year’s trends in swimwear.

So, for our readers hoping to learn about the newest Feadship yacht charter vessel to launch, you’ll need to wait a few days while we help the ladies get a jump on this summer’s hottest swimsuit fashions.
Editor’s note – the trend toward one-piece swimsuits that we saw in 2012 is continuing to grow as stylish celebrities, from full-figured girls like  Beyonce to the ultra-slim Taylor Swift, are rocking one-piece bathing suits known as “maillots.”  With so many A-listers going with one-piece suits, department stores and boutiques are stocking more monokinis and fewer bikinis.  The New York Post reports one-piece swimsuit sales are up around 20 percent in local New York shops.
In a salute to the maillot trend, here are our 2013 seasonal favorites:
NORMA KAMALI Vogue Lycra Collection (from $155 at Sacks Fifth Avenue)
We’ve grown accustomed to seeing photos of Beyonce onboard Caribbean yacht charter vessels wearing casual daywear; but you can’t stay onboard all day, especially when the warm waters of St Barts are calling.  Here’s Beyonce in a stylish Norma Kamali one piece:

VICTORIA’S SECRET Very Sexy Collection (from $138 online)
The lingerie company brings us monokinis that play it cool – not too bare and not too spare. The sequin one-piece lets you take the plunge in this daring little black suit. Shimmery sequins add dazzle to the curve-loving silhouette. Designed in luxe Italian fabric for a silky-soft feel. From the exclusive Very Sexy collection of glamorous swimwear by Victoria’s Secret – perfect for statement-making style in St Tropez during a Mediterranean yacht charter holiday this summer.

HERVE LEGER Cross Front Bandage Monokini ($740 at Nordstrom)
Super pricey and super chic, this ultimate designer suit is best for those who can afford to rent the newest and largest yachts in the world.  By famed French designer, Leger, this striking suit features crisscross panels to create the daring curve-flaunting cutouts, with a low-cut back.  Imported and made of Polyester/nylon/spandex (hand wash only).

What To Wear: The Season’s Hottest Nautical Fashions – On Sale!

Posted on

As summer draws to a close, the month of September serves as the unofficial kick-off to the boat show season.  From the Newport International Boat Show, to the glitz of the Cannes Yachting Festival and Monaco Yacht Shows, superyachts will be on display for perusal by interested buyers, as well as private luxury yacht charter clients.

It’s not just the yachts that will “look” their best at the shows. For the well-heeled, attending a boat show is a fun opportunity to dress the part, and wear the latest designer trends in nautical clothing, resortwear, and accessories.

The ladies in the charter department at 1-800 Yacht Charters put their heads together and came up with their favorite must-have nautical fashions for this season  (and since there’s no shame in saving money to look great, they focused on items offering, “Faaabulous discounts, dah-ling…”).

Balmain Double Breasted Wool Twill Blazer (Net-a-Porter.com: save 50% – was $2375, now $1188)

Nautical blazer for boat show fashion

Timeless blazer crafted from navy wool-twill in Balmain’s signature sharp silhouette. Features padded shoulders (hey, retro 90’s styles are back!), a nipped-in waist, and a double-breasted front, adorned with gold lion-embossed buttons. It’s fully satin-lined for a smooth finish. Wear jeans over a simple tee and boat shoes.  All aboard!

Boardwalk Shuffle Heel (ModCloth.com: 25% off – was $50, now $36.99)

Navy and white striped chunky heel sandals

It’s hard to look feminine and sexy in a flat pair of boat shoes, right ladies? When flat boat shoes just won’t do, the wide heel by Chinese Laundry is great for walking on boat docks.  Love the nautical stripes!

Men’s Micro Fish Print Slim Murray Shirt (Vineyard Vines:  was $98.50, now $69.99)

Yacht charter boat show fashion for me - button-down collared shirt with miniature fish all over it

Let’s face it, guys love fish – fish logos on their hats, their cars, and everywhere else.  Here’s a shirt that at least gives your guy a sharp, “dressy-casual” look on the docks.  Made from cool 100% cotton poplin, this micro fish (Computer gurus get it?  “microfiche!”) print shirt displays an ocean of diminutive fishes in a slim fit sport shirt.

Keepall Bandoulière 45 Regatta Travel Bag  (Louis Vuitton: was $2220, now $2220!!!)

OK, so this bag is not on sale.  Who cares…it’s LV!!!  Part of the designer’s collection for the upcoming America’s Cup races, this Damier Cobalt canvas travel bag is perfect for carrying yacht brochures and a bottle of Fiji water while walking the boat show docks.  Emblazoned with the V Gaston logo, this iconic bag exudes timeless style and easy elegance – and sale or no sale, we want it!
