CBS Amazing Race Showcases Latest Private Yacht Charter Watertoy

WHAT ARE THE NEWEST YACHT CHARTER TOYS?

The requirement for cutting-edge watertoys onboard private yacht charter vessels is nothing new.  There’s an ongoing battle between charter yacht owners to make sure their yacht has better toys than their competitor; hence the inclusion of jet packs, personal submarines, waterslides, and flying saucer-style waverunners.

HOW DOES THE S1 WORK?

Upon first glance, the S1 looks large and bulky, until you realize the pontoons that keep it afloat and provide stability are inflatable.  In fact, the unit folds down to 3 cubic feet and only weighs 60 pounds – compact and light enough for any deckhand to carry and place the S1 near the swim platform for the use of the charter guests.

A drive train attached to the pedals connects to a small propeller.  The company reports a good rider can achieve a speed of 5 miles per hour.

  • Smartphones, tablets, and any handheld computers are the norm (versus desktop computers).
  • Those resistant to change are changing to adapt to technology. Everyone has access to computers and smartphones.  This is regardless of his/her “station in life.”

  • The “personal touch” between family, friends, businesses, and clients must receive direct focus in order to stay an important aspect of life.  The “use it or lose it” belief is alive and well.
  • Handwritten communication is fading into the past.  Without direct use and practice, it disappears.  Schools no longer teach personalization in life. Technology has center stage.  This is a blessing, for example, for technological medical advances. They move closer to cures ever day.  Diagnosis, treatments, and surgeries are completely different than in the past.  It is also a curse.  Where is handwritten communication?  Are face-to-face meetings no more?
  • Society in general is moving more toward caring for others.  Pay It Forward, Practice Random Acts of Kindness, Help the environment, care about animals.  Compassion is big.
  • People are stepping up to help others (and to keep others – and animals – from harm) in my experience.  Companies are making more sustainable products and being more environmentally responsible.

  • All aspects of life are being directed toward recycling, reducing, and reusing….just loving the Earth and caring about our surroundings.
  • There’s a dramatic shift toward “Making a Difference.”

HOW TO USE BAMBOO?

Lamboo, Inc.’s product line presented yacht industry  designers like Dubois Naval Architects with a new challenge.  Designers always incorporate new materials into their work.

 

ELITE BAMBOO PANELS

The “Elite” product series has engineered bamboo panels and veneers, designed for the marine industry. Bamboo products are a sustainable alternative to wood on boats. They have superior weathering properties and resistance to fire.  Lamboo Elite stains and dyes panels in most colors. They coat the panels in matte and high gloss finishes. 
 

WHY USE SUSTAINABLE BAMBOO

Bamboo paneling requires no special equipment for use, as it sands and cuts using regular woodworking equipment.  Useability convinces designers to switch to low cost bamboo.  These sustainable products have anti-microbial and moisture resistant attributes. 
 

OTHER SUSTAINABLE IDEAS

Additional ways to promote green yachting include designer creativity.  Eleonore Cavalli of Italian luxury interior design brand Visionnaire uses wood in upholstery frames. Wood comes from plantations. Specifically, trees cut only when they reach a certain age.  No chemical additives in her leathers.  She uses vegetable-based rubber.  She also uses hemp filling in cushions, instead of feathers.
Other sustainable and renewable items exist on yachts. For instance, skincare items, reef safe sunscreen, and solar powered watertoys.  They protect the ocean and the earth.
Sustainability is the way of the future for interior design. Yacht owners and charter guests demand a new outlook on protecting the environment, so that has changed the design of yachting, inside and out.
