The Limo Look – Luxury Yacht Charter Tenders Next Generation

Hodgon limo tender used by superyachts to keep yacht charter clients dry and comfortable

As the
largest yachts in the charter marketplace continue to get larger and larger, finding adequate dockage becomes increasingly difficult.  Many marinas, especially in remote destinations, simply do not have the capacity to host today’s 70+ meter long vessels.   Large charter vessels compensate by anchoring at sea and using tenders to shuttle passengers and guests to and from the shore.

While tenders can quickly transport passengers, more often than not, the guests DO get wet – sometimes by just the mist of the ocean, and sometimes through a good dousing by an errant wave. Taking a tender ashore to attend a black-tie soiree at the Cannes Film Festival should not leave you feeling salty and damp!

Alas, the next generation of superyacht tenders remedies the problem: fully-enclosed water limousines.

Hodgdon Yachts is the latest builder to enter the emeging marketplace of custom-built, enclosed tenders.  Known for their famous sailing yachts built in cold-moulded wood like Antonisa (1999), Scheherazade (2003), and Windcrest (2006), the American builder now offers a complete line of luxury tenders created by Michael Peters Yacht Design.

Three models are currently available, a 10.11m Sport Tender, a 9.15m Center Console Tender, and a 10.50m Limo Tender. All details can be customised from the hull and deck colors to the wood trim, leather or fabric, deck treatment, etc.

The first Limo Tender by Hodgdon has already been placed into service on a famous, recently-launched Oceanco superyacht.

Built in GRP and carbon with teak decks and varnished mahogany, the Limo Tender is powered by a Volvo D6-370 engine giving a top speed of 32 knots. The interior accommodates seatings for 12 in a complete comfort: leather, air conditioning, icebox, video and audio systems, etc.

Most importantly – everyone stays dry!!!
