The profile of the Viking 82 convertible yacht MUSTANG SALLY is recognizable. Specifically at the dock of a yacht club. In short, when trolling for billfish at sea, she also stands out.
She has an aggressively raked stem with seamless curves. Clearly, she is a testament to the famous style of a Viking-built sportfish yacht.
Viking has solved the challenge for many active Florida yacht charter clients. In specific, these individuals seek both the comforts of a megayacht and the performance of a fishing boat. Many mid-sized megayachts must carry a small tender to allow charter guests an opportunity to go fishing. With sportfish yacht MUSTANG SALLY 82, Viking has put the entire package into one yacht. For this reason, no need for a small tender. Specifically when you can chase tournament gamefish from the megayacht, herself.
Credit for Viking 82 MUSTANG SALLY crossover luxury yacht vs fishing boat goes to the builders and the in-house design team. With this in mind, her signature ground-breaking design and performance is incredible. It is the result of thousands of hours racked up by Viking’s tournament-winning demo program. Real-world experience at sea, fishing, and cruising in all weather conditions helped the builder. Specifically to lock down the features, amenities, and performance. This is required to make this yacht an ideal charter vessel for active, sports-minded guests.
Sustainability and a commitment to protecting the oceans is a cornerstone. In specific, of the goals of 1-800 Yacht Charters company President, Jana Sheeder. Great care goes into promoting yachts that follow this ideal. The idea of trophy hunting and fishing is not in line with the company’s ideals. Yachts that practice “catch and release” are the only sportfish yachts promoted to clients. That said, this Viking 82 convertible is a perfect example of this dedication to sustainability. Important to note, her forward freeboard is nearly nine feet. There are only three feet in the cockpit. This makes it safe and effortless for the crew and guests to release billfish unharmed.
Step into the salon. Obviously comfort and luxury are abundant throughout the yacht. Her interior refit gives the yacht a more contemporary look. [Note: the exterior hull was also painted during the refit. Importantly, it is custom, gold-to-bronze fade metallic paint.] The yacht’s substantial beam creates a spacious salon, with hand-finished teak joinery throughout. The L-shaped sofa offers an excellent vantage to relax and enjoy the entertainment on the screen of the large 50-inch TV (Apple TV system with Bose sound system), which rises from cabinetry on the starboard side. A dinette on the port side and wide bar stools at the open-galley countertop to starboard create a relaxing and practical environment. The design lends to both formal dining as well as grabbing a sandwich and snacks between billfish strikes from the cockpit fighting chair.
A companionway to port leads to four charter guest staterooms. The master suite is positioned amidships for maximum comfort and privacy and features a King size bed, desk, 46″ Samsung LCD flat-screen TV with Bose entertainment system, and en-suite bathroom.
An offset companionway leads to the other three cabins. Forward is the VIP Stateroom with Queen bed, flat-screen TV, and en-suite bathroom. To port and starboard are two guest cabins. Each cabin offers side-by-side Twin berths, flat-screen tvs, and en-suite bathrooms.
The aft cockpit of the yacht boasts 255 square feet of space. It features the signature Viking mezzanine deck beneath the flying bridge overhang. This cover is for protection against sun and salt spray. Here, guests will find a seating area, air conditioning, TV, Bose sound system, and a cockpit camera.
Furthest aft is the fishing area. She is perfect for hardcore fishermen and women, For example, angling enthusiasts will appreciate the Murray Marine fighting chair, bait freezer, tackle center, large storage area, live well, large freezer and rod holders within easy reach.
The open flying bridge has many incredible features. For instance, a center helm console, DirecTV receivers, Tracvision TV with Gyro, satellite radio, Clarion CD/MP3/WMA receiver. Forward of the helm is a private seating area with a comfortable raised settee and a small teak dining table.
In addition, with her Palm Beach Towers custom tuna tower, this yacht is fully outfitted for tournament fishing and long-range cruising. The tower features 4 outriggers, a center rigger, and 20 recessed teaser reels, and sunshade).

The yacht is powered by 2 MTU 16V2000 M93 2400hp diesel engines. These afford a cruising speed of 26 knots. Subsequently, topping at 360 knots. Why does this matter?
