This lady is the latest incarnation of a James Bond yacht. Motor yacht MOONRAKER looks as one would expect the yacht of a secret agent to look. She is sleek, sexy, and oh so fast. It’s easy to imagine fictional Agent 007 socializing with friends onboard this magnificent yacht. She features an open-deck layout and numerous entertainment amenities. In addition, comfortable seating and dining areas. This Mangusta 165 yacht MOONRAKER is the real deal. She is not a movie prop. Thus, she is for charter for Bahamas yacht charter vacations.
Several of the James Bond movies were filmed in the Bahamas. Yacht MOONRAKER seems as if her build is specifically for exploring this warm-water archipelago. She has a shallow draft of 1.7 meters (about 5 1/2 ft.). The yacht can easily get into shallow anchorages that other superyachts cannot. They must visit via the use of a dinghy or towed tender. Traversing the vast ocean area is a snap for this super-fast yacht. Specifically powered to a heart-pounding maximum speed of 42 knots. She has powerful triple 4,609hp MTU/Kamewa engines. Other yachts can take a day to reach a remote Bahamian anchorage. Moonraker arrives in 2 to three hours.

Built by the large-yacht performance experts at Italy’s Overmarine shipyard, the 49.9 meter Mangusta 165E open superyacht features exterior styling by Stefano Righini, and interiors by the yard’s own design team. This is the 8th Mangusta 165 model to come out of the builder’s yard, but she is the first in the new, “E” series, which stands for, “Evolution.”
Exterior seating and entertainment areas include an aft deck, foredeck and flybridge deck. The open-air aft deck with comfortable couch seating and an al-fresco dining table under the protected overhang of the sun deck above. The aft seating area and the dining area are separated by a small wall which hides dual screen pop up TV’s.
The yacht’s bow area is home to an amazing multi-function foredeck, featuring a Jacuzzi tub, sunken al-fresco dining area, and further forward large sun pads to soak in the warm Caribbean sunshine. Large, pop up dual flat panel TV’s separate the Jacuzzi from the dining area, and can be viewed from either side – very unique on a megayacht foredeck.
Additional open air seating is located on the flybridge, with a wet bar, BBQ grill, large glass dining table, and plenty of built-in couch seating. All decks link to a sound/music system. The system has a party mode to synchronize music on the aft and foredeck with the salon.
To enhance The Superyacht Experience™, optional sun awnings are installed during the charter on both the aft and foredeck areas.
It’s hard to know where to begin when describing the yacht’s interior. The first thought that comes to mind is, “This looks like the finest suite at a bespoke luxury boutique hotel in Cannes or Miami Beach.” Tasteful and stylish, there are so many textures and fine materials to touch and see – beautiful stone, rich lacquered woods, luxurious leathers and so much more… The onboard styling has fine artwork, including original works by Picasso.

The yacht accommodates up to eight guests in four cabins. For instance, a master suite, a VIP cabin, and two double cabins. All cabins are located on the yacht’s lower deck. The double cabins feature queen beds while the VIP cabin offers an oversized queen bed. Beige and cream colors create a Zen-peaceful scheme in the cabins.
The large master suite is full beam – the width of the yacht – and features high ceilings that give the room an extra spacious feel. Polished wood floors and warm, neutral colors add to the tranquility felt in all of the cabins. The master features an opulent bathroom, with a large bathtub and rainfall aromatherapy shower with mood lighting.
Also found on the lower deck is a cinema room and gym. The cinema features a large 65” TV and secret “candy drawers” loaded with snacks for an authentic movie theatre experience. The wall-to-wall plush sofa in the cinema converts to accommodate a single guest. The state-of-the-art gym has an adjacent Hammam/steam shower with mood lighting.
Like the cabins, the main salon also features a neutral color scheme, but with darker tones in the unique grey stingray leather furniture and the cushions and blankets. The dining area seats up to ten guests and clear wine cabinets to the left and right of the table hold a large selection of vintage and premium wines. The combination of both single and bench leather seating each side of the table and a large, shimmering-glass piece of art on the forward wall creates a sophisticated atmosphere well-suited for fine dining.
The visual standout of the main saloon is the magnificent bar, which seats up to five guests on high swivel stools. This is an ideal place for entertainment and socializing, with a large hidden TV that drops out and down from the ceiling, and built-in refrigerators designed to chill cocktail & beer glasses.
Natural light fills the entire salon through oversized windows. This 165E Evolution model has larger windows than on the other 165 models as well a skylights in the high ceiling over the dining table. A unique feature in the salon is the full size humidor cabinet, plus a small room next to the bar with two espresso machines.
Of course, there is more to a charter than a yacht’s onboard amenities. The ocean lures travelers to visit the gorgeous Bahamas. It acts as a pool of shallow sandy-bottom warm water nestled around hundreds of small islands. This yacht’s onboard watertoy inventory is as impressive as her interior amenities. Guests can enjoy the use of a high speed jet tender, 2 waverunners, snorkel and Scuba gear, and 2 underwater scooters – just like James Bond rode in the Bahamas in the film, “Thunderball.”
