Most Likely to Bare It All on a Vacation

In March, our Caribbean yacht charter destination specialists shared two popular clothing optional destinations with our readers, along with 2 fabulous yachts to take you there.

Now, the folks at Trip Advisor ask travelers the question, “Are you ready to bare it all?

In a recent survey, the online travel site asked members if they would bare it all at a nude beach.  The surprising results showed nearly half of the respondents said they are ready to strip, with European members proving to be the most revealing of all.

Jana Sheeder, the President of 1-800 Yacht Charters, is not surprised by the fact Europeans lead the way in clothing-optional vacation inquiries.

For many years we’ve noticed the majority of inquiries for clothing-optional charters come from Europe, and they have a strong preference for crewed catamaran charters as opposed to motor yacht vacations.  They find the quiet nature of sailing to be relaxing, and the large canvas lounging areas on catamarans are perfect for sun worshippers.

Here are the results of the Tripadvisor survey:

Would you bare all at a nude beach?

United States
Yes 49%
No 32%
Undecided 19%

Australia

No 25%
Undecided 23%

Tenders- The Limo Look – Next Generation

Posted on

LARGE YACHT ISSUES

The largest yachts in the charter marketplace are getting larger.  In particularly, finding adequate dockage is difficult.  Many marinas cannot host 70+ meter long vessels. Large yachts anchor at sea. In addition, they use tenders to shuttle guests to the shore.

ENTER LIMO TENDERS

Tenders quickly transport passengers.  Accordingly, guests DO get wet from the mist of the ocean.  At other times, errant waves create dampness.  Taking a tender to a black-tie event at the Cannes Film Festival is not elegant!

WATER LIMOUSINES

For this reason, the next generation of superyacht tenders remedies the problem.  Namely, fully-enclosed water limousines.

HODGDON YACHTS

Hodgdon Yachts is the latest builder of enclosed tenders.  They are known for sailing yachts built in cold-molded wood. For instance, Antonisa (1999), Scheherazade (2003), and Windcrest (2006).  The company consequently offers a line of luxury tenders created by Michael Peters Yacht Design.

LIMO MODELS

There are 3 models of limo tenders available to list.  Namely, a 10.11 meter Sport Tender, a 9.15 meter Center Console Tender, and finally, a 10.50 meter model. All details are customised, for example, hull, deck colors, wood trims, materials, and deck treatment.

SEVEN SEAS

The first Limo Tender by Hodgdon is on Steven Spielberg’s Oceanco superyacht, Seven Seas.

TENDER FEATURES

A Limo Tender is built in GRP and carbon with teak decks and varnished mahogany.  Additionally, it is powered by a Volvo D6-370 engine with a top speed of 32 knots.

INTERIOR

The limo tender interior seats 12.  Including leather, air conditioning, icebox, and audio video systems.  Most importantly – everyone stays dry!!!

HOW TO BOOK A YACHT CHARTER

Book December 2011 HERE now.  Reservations are being accepted for year-end Caribbean holidays.  At any rate, dockage for large yachts is minimal.  Therefore, advance bookings are strongly encouraged.

Top Four Airport Security Travel Tips

Posted on

BODY SCANNERS AT AIRPORT

You are on your way to the airport, ready to hop a flight to the Caribbean. You are ready to begin your Virgin Island yacht charter vacation.  You are running a little late.  You think to yourself, “I hope I don’t get held up in the security screening and end up missing my flight.

HOW TO GET THROUGH THEM QUICKLY

Prepare before you arrive at the airport in order to move quickly through security. Here are four suggestions to make the airport screening process as smooth as possible:

  • AVOID heavy metal.  We are not referencing the Metallica album on your iPod.  Certain clothing and accessories can set off alarms on metal detectors.  Metal buttons and belt buckles can set off alarms.  Do not wear clothing or jewelry that contain metal when traveling.  Security checkpoints are unforgiving of metals.  Pack metal items in your carry-on baggage.
  • PACK your coat.  All items that you are carrying must go through the X-ray machine for inspection.  If you wear an outer coat at the screening checkpoint, you will need to put it in one of the X-ray bins.  This slows down your security process.
  • WEAR shoes without laces.  You are required to remove your shoes before you pass through the metal detectors.  All types of footwear, even sandals, are removed. Avoid leaving the security line to sit and untie laced shoes (like Timberland boots worn when headed to snow country). Wear shoes that you can easily and quickly slip on and off.
  • DECLUTTER your carryon bag.  Security agents get a clear, uncomplicated X-ray image of a cleaner bag.  Limit liquids in carry-on bags to what you need for the duration of the flight.  This is especially important if you are taking a crewed luxury sailing or mega yacht charter.  The crew on your vessel will have plenty of onboard provisions for you to use.   If you must take liquids, pack them in your checked baggage.  You will get through security faster without obstructions.
