AMEVI superyacht

When the 80 meter (262 foot) Oceanco super yacht AMEVI first entered the Mediterranean yacht charter marketplace in 2008, she looked like most of the other megayachts available for hire – big and white.  Not any more…

Recently spotted off the coast of  Mallorca, motor yacht AMEVI is sporting a new, deep blue paint job.  WOW.  She looks SO sharp!

Built by Oceanco with exterior design by Nuvolari & Lenard and an interior by Alberto Pinto, charter rates for M/Y Amevi begin at €700,000 per week, plus expenses for a maximum 12 passengers.

Foreign Yacht Charter Vessels Visit Moscow

Posted on

Photograph of Moscow, Russia, from across the river. The photo shows a river barge traveling down the river, toward the left.

Moscow, Russia

As of May, 2012, the inland waterways of Russia have lifted the restrictions on superyachts flying a foreign flag.
This means foreign-flagged megayachts, both charter vessels and private use ships, will be able to make their way to Moscow.
Yachting industry reports show 17% of the world’s largest yachts are owned by Russians;  however, none of these are Russian-flagged.
With these new rules in place, perhaps we will see more yachts making their way to the Russian capital…

Solent Yacht and Corporate Bareboat Sailing

Posted on

Photograph of men all wearing red jackets and standing and sitting on a sailboat that is underway. The men are waving at the camera. It is a team-building exercise on a boat. The yacht is headed toward the right side of the photo.

Corporate Sailing – Team Building

There is nothing more adventurous than sailing in the open water, and many destinations around the world offer the best conditions for sailing and other water activities. Since not many people own a boat or a yacht, there are some certain arrangements you can opt for if you want to go sailing in Solent for example. One of the most popular arrangements is bareboat charters.

This type of agreement means that the owner will allow the use of the boat without providing any crew or provisions to the person chartering it. There are bareboat charters that can only be for a specific period of time, while there are some charters where the person obtains full control of the vessel and the owner will not provide any administration or technical maintenance. In Solent (a strait separating the Isle of Wight from the mainland of England), there are many established companies that offer charters for people who want to experience life on the open ocean for less.

Sailing is a popular activity that is best enjoyed with a group of people. These days, sailing has become one of the ways to improve team performance and as a form of work incentive. Corporate sailing can be for fun or for experiential learning for employees. This activity is highly participatory and challenging. It encourages everyone to participate and enjoy the activity while breaking down barriers in communication. There is no wonder why many companies enjoy sailing in Solent as a great team building effort. To make the yacht charter activity fun, safe, and engaging however, you must hire a sailing company that can provide all the needed provisions during the charter. Hire a professional that will guide inexperienced members of the group to become familiar with the basics of sailing.

Whether you want to enjoy sailing privately or as a company activity, Solent still has some of the best sailing facilities and providers. Whether you prefer a bareboat charter or a private luxury yacht charter, you will find excellent companies like 1-800 Yacht Charters at or Bareboat Depot at that can cater to everything that you need. You can bring your family aboard and enjoy a few days in the open ocean near Solent. While sailing may not be a cheap hobby, chartering is making this activity more reasonable and accessible for everyone. To provide you with all the resources you need, the internet is complete with details to help you contact a sailing company in Solent, and you will have a choice among many sailing companies depending on the kind of experience you are looking for and your budget.

For bareboat yacht charters in the Caribbean, the Florida Keys, Miami, the Bahamas, the South Pacific, and the Mediterranean, contact Bareboat Depot at

Superyacht Owner Actor Johnny Depp Back On The Market

Posted on

Photograph of yacht charter owner Johnny Depp. He is wearing black-rimmed glasses, he has a moustache and goatee, and he is smiling with closed mouth. It is only his head and shoulders in the photo. There is a crowd behind him.

Johnny Depp

Our intrepid reporters sensed trouble in paradise for actor Johnny Depp, the owner of the Mediterranean yacht charter vessel, VaJoLiRoJa and his companion of 14 years, singer Vanessa Paradis, in January.

Now that the actor has confirmed the breakup, review Depp’s relationships below. In addition to beautiful women, they come from all walks of Hollywood life.
First, Lori Allison, 1983-1985
Depp married makeup artist Lori Allison when he moved to Los Angeles.  Allison introduced Depp to her friend, Nicolas Cage.  Cage then introduced Depp to the agent who landed Depp his breakthrough role in “Nightmare on Elm Street.”
Second, Sherilyn Fenn, 1986-1988
Fenn and Depp met on the set of a student film. The couple announced their engagement.  Fenn appeared in one episode of Depp’s hit TV series, “21 Jump Street.”  They broke up.  Fenn then starred in the TV series “Twin Peaks.”
Third, Jennifer Grey, 1989
The “Dirty Dancing” star engaged Depp in 1989. Not much else is known about their relationship. Their engagement seems to have fizzled when Depp met Wynona Ryder the same year.

Fourth, Winona Ryder, 1989-1993
Ryder and Depp met at a movie premiere. They quickly became an item. They co-starred in Tim Burton’s film “Edward Scissorhands.”  They split, and Depp changed the tattoo on his right bicep from “Winona Forever” to “Wino Forever.”
Fifth, Ellen Barkin, 1993-1994
Depp briefly dated Barkin.  She is nine years older than Depp.
Sixth, Kate Moss, 1994-1998
Hollywood insiders describe Depp’s relationship with model Kate Moss as tumultuous. The couple was often seen in public. They constantly either make out or yell at each other. In the same way as others, the romance equalled a fourth broken engagement.
Seventh, Vanessa Paradis, June 1998-June 2012
The French model met Depp while he was filming “The Ninth Gate.”  Months later, the couple moved into a $2 million villa in France.  Depp’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise succeeded.  Depp and Paradis purchased a 156′  charter yacht. They named her VaJoLiRoJa.   The name is a result of combining the first few letters of each family member’s name. For instance, partner VAnessa Paradis, JOhnny, and their kids, LIly-ROse and JAck.  In conclusion, concentrate now.
