Another superyacht owner has announced intentions to relocate his yacht to the Caribbean for the upcoming winter/spring season.
The 82.4 meter (270’35”) Abeking and Rasmussen motoryacht RoMEA is scheduled to arrive in the Caribbean in early December, in time to participate in the winter 2016/spring 2017 St. Martin yacht charter season.
Built in 2015, the yacht spent her first year in charter service in the Mediterranean, and now joins a growing list of superyachts relocating to the Caribbean in December, including the 58 meter Benetti yacht ILLUSION V.
Currently ranked 84th on the list of the world’s largest yachts, yacht RoMEA offers accommodations for 12 charter guests in six staterooms.
Part of a growing fleet of wellness yacht charter vessels that are best described as, “floating spas,” her onboard amenities include massage services, indoor and outdoor cinemas, and a beach club with steam room. Guests are encouraged to also use the yacht’s extensive watersports inventory including underwater sleds, windsurfers, stand up paddleboards, scuba gear (for certified divers), kayaks, and water skis.
The published charter rate for ROMEA is €875,000 per week, plus running expenses.

Thinking about a St Barts yacht charter this December on a comfortable, head-turning megayacht? If you are, we have great news.
Two Amels Limited Editions 180 superyachts have just announced plans to head to the Caribbean this winter, and both will remain in the area through Spring 2017.
Amels motor yacht ELIXIR and yacht 4YOU, Limited Editions 180 models will be available this December, 2016 through April, 2017 for British Virgin Island yacht charter reservations, or further south in the area of St. Martin and St Barts.
Built in 2012, Amels yacht 4YOU features a stunning contemporary Laura Sessa interior and sleeps 10 to 12 in 6 guest cabins. The newer yacht ELIXIR, Amels 180 offers accommodations for 10 guests in 5 cabins, and also boats a Laura Sessa interior with a bit more eclectic look than 4YOU.
The Limited Editions AMELS 180 series is designed by naval architect Tim Heywood. Ever-evolving, it is considered one of the most refined and smooth-functioning yachts in the 55-meter range. The Master suite is fitted with a folding balcony, with two more balconies attached to the main desk salon. Turkey’s Proteksan Turquoise Yachts Inc and London-based H2 Yacht Design, the team that produced the popular Miami yacht charter vessel, yacht SEQUEL P, and the award-winning motor yacht VICKY, are joining forces once again.
The new build currently named Turquoise Yachts Project Barracuda is expected to splash down in 2019.
With 74 meter yacht Barracuda, Turquoise Yachts and H2 will reprise the collaboration known for practicality and spaciousness. The proven 70-meter platform gained international notice in 2013 at the Showboats Design Awards, where Proteksan Turquoise charter yacht VICKY won multiple awards for “Best Interior Layout” and “Best Recreational Area for Guest Use.”
Interior spaces will again be designed by H2’s Ken Freivokh. Freivokh’s clean conception will include his signature triple-deck high atrium amidships that will be the source of much of the natural light that will flow throughout the superyacht’s interior.
Charter guest accommodations will include a large master suite, two VIP staterooms and four additional guest cabins. Amenities will include a full beam sky lounge, beach club with spa features to accommodate wellness yacht charter clients, and an onboard cinema.
The Turkish yard and London designers also collaborated on the 70 meter motor yacht TALISMAN C, and the 54 meter motor yacht TURQUOISE, both launched in 2011.

The myriad of recreational toys offered by private yacht charter vessels continues to grow each year, as more and more yachts continue to battle for the same handful of HNWI for whom yachting is a lifestyle, not a once in a lifetime adventure.
Gone are the days when a yacht only carried a windsurfer and some snorkel gear. Today, the onboard watertoy inventory sheet on most superyachts reads like a wish list from the Hammacher Schlemmer Christmas catalog. Jetlev hover boards, giant waterslides, even mini submarines are now the norm.
While most of the toys have straightforward names that define their intended use (for example, stand up paddleboards, water skis, etc.), some have downright funny names, associated with foods that come to mind when looking at the toys.
Here are our favorite food-inspired charter toys, found on many Virgin Islands yacht charter vessels:
DONUT – There are actually several types of donut watertoys. The most common ones look like giant tire inner tubes, hence the term, “donut.” A totally new “spin” on the water donut is the BBQ Donut, where several people can sit inside a floating donut-shaped vessel, complete with sun awning and bbq grill.
BANANA – This colorful towable toy is pulled along by the charter yacht’s tender. It’s all about a fast, bumpy ride. Bananas aren’t typically “fast food,” but this banana fits the bill! Depending upon the size of the banana, some carry 2 riders, and some six or more. Hang on tight – falling off at high speed can sting a bit when you splash into the water!
HOT DOG – Take a towable banana, paint it red, and add a couple “buns” to the sides and voila, you’ve got a towable hot dog watertoy. The inflatable buns actually perform a purpose – by adding extra stability to the toy. In other words, you don’t fall off as much as you do on the banana…but hey, falling off is part of the fun!
BROWNIES THIRD LUNG – ok, so you don’t really “ride” this one. Work with me, here – it’s a watertoy, and its name sounds like food! This is basically an air compressor situated in a floating donut. (If you’d like, we can refer to it as YET ANOTHER TYPE OF DONUT WATERTOY!) The compressor pumps air into long tubes that tie into a snorkel mask. Swimmers wear the mask and breathe fresh air, allowing them to do very shallow dives, while safely tethered to the floating compressor. It’s a great way for novices to experience the sensation of SCUBA diving while snorkeling in shallow water.

It appears topping their fatherland rival by building the world’s largest yacht wasn’t good enough for Lürssen Yachts. With that title in hand, the German superyacht builder commenced to gobble up their leading competitor, and take over their entire operation.
Bremen-based Lürssen Yachts has announced the acquisition of Hamburg’s superyacht builder, Blohm+Voss.
According to Peter Luerssen, Managing Partner, “With the acquisition of Blohm+Voss we are taking over a shipyard with a strategically advantageous location and versatile production facilities. We want to use these facilities to complement our existing refit and repair activities and also to offer our customers an ever better service.”
With the 2013 launch of the world’s largest yacht, the 180 meter motor yacht AZZAM, Lürssen wrestled the top spot away from the Roman Abramovich-owned motor yacht ECLIPSE, a 162.50 meter Blohm & Voss GmbH vessel launched in 2010.
Of the 10 largest yachts in service today, Lürssen has built 5 of them, including 3 of the top 5.
In the charter industry, many Lürssen Yacht charter vessels are among, the largest yachts offered for hire, including the 94 meter (308ft) Lürssen yacht Kismet II and the 70 meter (230ft) Lurssen motor yacht Martha Ann.

After a successful Italy yacht charter season this summer, the owner of Benetti motor yacht ULYSSES has announced his interest to relocate his 56 meter yacht this winter to the warm waters of the Caribbean, and in particular, the new cruising destination Cuba.
The idea of a Cuba yacht charter vacation is now more popular than ever, in large part thanks to the easing of travel restrictions between the United States government and the government of Cuba. The result of minimal tourism in Cuba for the past 5 decades means much of the country remains as pristine as it did a half-century ago.
Small islets and miles of unspoiled beaches along the southern coast of the island nation are ideal for a warm weather yachting vacation. Additionally, the opportunity to interact with the residents and their unique Latin culture rounds out the total Superyacht Experience.
Offering great value to potential customers is nothing new for the owner of Italian-built motor yacht ULYSSES, a Benetti 184 foot superyacht. In fact, the yacht still has a late summer discount in place for charters in the Mediterranean, along the Italian coast. Although no discounts have been announced yet for Cuba and the Caribbean, we feel it’s only a matter of time before the yacht’s owner dangles a tantalizing offer in front of our noses!
Check back with us during the fall, and we’ll let you know all of the great winter deals available for enjoying a Cuba yacht charter vacation, or any other special deal throughout the Caribbean…
