164 Foot Superyacht Relocates to St Martin for Winter Holidays

Posted on

The 164ft tri-deck Trinity yacht charter vessel yacht AMARULA SUN will set her course for the Caribbean this winter and will be in place in St. Martin in time to accept year-end inquires for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.  The superyacht will remain in the islands throughout spring 2016.

Her weekly charter rate is $220,000 plus running expenses.

Amarula Sun white boat motoryacht profile underway

The news comes on the heels of the recent relocation announcement by Feadship yacht HURRICANE RUN to the Caribbean for year-end, 2015.

The 50 meter motor yacht AMARULA SUN is truly a one of kind.  Her many unique amenities include a split-level Master Stateroom with panoramic views, fully body massage chair, grand player piano, and a cozy fireplace.

There are accommodations for 10 adults in 5 staterooms, plus two Pullman berths each suitable for a small child.

Adventurous travelers take note – this yacht is packed with a wide array of sports equipment and water toys.  Here’s a partial list:

  • 32 foot Everglades towed tender
  • 21 foot custom Brigs tender with a killer six speaker sound system, GPS, and underwater lights
  • 4 Personal watercraft includes 2 Yamaha 3-person supercharged wave runners (VERY fast!!!) and 2 SeaDoo Sparks wave runners (painted Hot Pink!)
  • 2 SeaBobs (yes, just like James Bond 007 rode in Thunderball, only smaller and faster!)

…and my personal favorite toys:

  • Giant inflatable waterslide
  • High-flying Jet Lev backpack!!!

Superyacht Owner Pays Homage to James Bond

Posted on

John Staluppi, notably the luxury yacht charter world’s archetypical yacht owner, is at it again. He is driven by imagination and pride. As such, Staluppi takes possession of his 16th megayacht.

Aerial photograph of the profile of motoryacht, Diamonds Are Forever. Solid white yacht. Heading toward the lower left side of screen. Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas is in the backrground.

Diamonds Are Forever Staluppi yacht

Launch took place on 26th November 2011 in Benetti shipyard in Livorno, Italy.  The 60 meter Benetti FB253 is the boat’s official identification.  Like his earlier yachts, the vessel has been christened to honor another James Bond classic novel and film.  Presenting motor yacht DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.

BENETTI TRADITIONS

The boat is based on the shipyard’s famed naval architecture and engineering.  Elegant external line of the new Benetti FB253 M/Y (Motoryacht) DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER uses compact forms and dynamic slender lines.  She has traditional design elements and modern innovative stylistic solutions.  These features are the benchmark of Benetti’s throughout the world.

John Staluppi, Superyacht Owner

STALUPPI YACHTS

As a matter of fact, this man has long been a fan of the James Bond 007 saga.  To emphasize, Staluppi’s earlier creations include:

  • motor yacht OCTOPUSSY
  • motoryacht MOONRAKER
  • superyacht THUNDERBALL
  • M/Y THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH
  • mega yacht CASINO ROYALE  (A fixture at Atlantis Resort and Marina on Paradise Island)

SINGULAR FOCUS OF BUILDS

CASINO ROYALE and DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER are built for true luxury at sea.  Staluppi’s earlier Bond boats had a singular focus – SPEED.   They were setting records as some of the fastest superyachts in the world.  It was the 43.5 meter motor yacht OCTOPUSSY which broke the 50-knot speed barrier 20 years ago. This yacht brought the name of New York-born John Staluppi to the attention of yacht aficionados.

YACHT OWNER’S BEGINNINGS

He has a well-known background, but the self-made millionaire left school when he was 16 and worked as a mechanic in Brooklyn.  Due to this, he developed one of the most successful car dealerships in North America. It was a business that enabled him to indulge his passion for racing fast boats. He then started building megayachts for himself.

In conclusion, many charter yacht owners prefer to remain anonymous. Staluppi’s vision and passion bring fervor and excitement to a very conservative industry.  There aren’t many yachts aboard which guests are greeted by frosted-glass panels delicately etched with the silhouettes of Bond girls
The customized, whimsical James Bond boat themes are a refreshing breath of fresh air in an industry of white, cookie-cutter production boats.  It must be remembered. Let’s hope Staluppi doesn’t run out of 007 movie titles, or his passion, any time soon.

Superyacht | Private yacht perfect for James Bond Villain

UNIQUE YACHT FOR COMMISSION

Thanks to The Robb Report and writer, Viju Mathew for sharing this unique luxury yacht.

Profile of huge futuristic-looking concept yacht

<< The beauty behind Sander Sinot’s 590-foot Symmetry yacht concept is its sophisticated sense of balance. The Netherlands–based founder of Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design named the bespoke behemoth after its symmetrical hull and stern, allowing for equal maneuverability in both directions. The design duality carries over into the lavish living spaces, where interior and exterior boundaries become exquisitely blurred.

THE OWNER’S DECK

The dedicated owner’s deck, for example, will feature a stateroom that can be opened up to flow onto its private outdoor lounge and infinity pool. And on the Beach Deck, a floating lounge with a seawater pool will be able to extend out across the ocean. In all, Symmetry will provide over 10,700 square feet of usable exterior deck space, including a glass-bottom pool on the Guest Deck and another 56-foot-long pool on the Hotel Deck.

THE YACHT INTERIOR

Inside, the yacht’s six decks of indulgence house a spa, a garden, a gym, and a selection of dining and bar venues. For young ones, a theater and playroom provide distraction on the Lower Deck. Aquatic amenities will include two 33-foot tenders, a 46-foot day boat, and six personal watercraft.

ACCOMMODATIONS

She accomodates up to 34 guests. Specifically, in four ensuite VIP rooms.  Each with a personal lounge and balcony.  In addition, there are 12 cabins. Within the owner’s inner sanctum is a private spa, an office, a library, and a skylounge. >>

Edited.

The steel-hulled yacht is environmentally-balanced.   It benefits from an electric Azipod propulsion system.  Subsequently making possible a top speed of 20 knots.  It is controlled from twin navigation stations on the Wheelhouse Deck.  Sinot introduced Symmetry at the Monaco Yacht Show last month.  A new owner, or Bond villain, is welcome to commission it.

There will always be a Bond film that’s ready for her!

We hope that a buyer commissions this high-caliber, impressive yacht.  Subsequently entering her in the superyacht charter industry. Fingers crossed!

The Next James Bond Boat Might Be a Hybrid

Posted on

Aerial drawing of futuristic trimaran concept motoryacht

FUTURE YACHT DESIGN

Every few weeks we like to glimpse into the future of sustainable yacht design.  We’ve profiled designers who tout a future of green superyachts and builders who hope to lead the way with zero-carbon emission mega yacht charter vessels.

JAMES BOND BOAT

German grad student, Stefanie Behringer, is getting notice.  Stefanie designed a hybrid propulsion trimaran motorboat. It is powered by diesel and electric jet skis. Behringer’s creation, if it makes it off the drawing board, would be the ultimate James Bond boat.  The sleek, futuristic design is a real head-turner! The green-designed vessel is simple and efficient. A jet ski attaches to each side of the hull.  While the jet skis are electric-powered, the 49 foot yacht is also powered by two Audi turbo-charged diesel engines.  Audi’s concept design team assisted Behringer on the project.

SPEED AND PERFORMANCE

The motoryacht is designed to cruise above 20 knots, with a top end of nearly 30 knots. The vessel can be operated using just the jet skis for a 100-horsepower emission-free cruise. At high speeds, the diesel engines will kick in as well as recharge the jet skis’ batteries.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Twelve passengers can move about comfortably on the deck, designed to feel like a lounge. A tinted glass panel above will shield passengers from the wind and sun.

Aerial drawing of layout of trimaran concept motoryacht. The drawing shows 3 white images of people's bodies on the yacht and on the tender.

LAUNCH DATE FOR BOND BOAT

Alas, don’t expect to see this vessel pop up anytime soon in the Mediterranean yacht charter market.  Audi has not announced any plans to move the multi-hulled motoryacht beyond the concept phase.  Still, innovative designs like this bode well for the future of the yachting industry and talented young designers like Stefanie Behringer.

TOP 5 Caribbean Yacht Charter Cocktails To Try Right Now

Posted on

QUESTION

“I’m looking forward to my first St. Martin yacht charter vacation, and my travel companions and I are having a Caribbean themed party to get super psyched about our trip.  Any suggestions for top 5 cocktails (traditional / island) to put us in the proper frame of mind?”

Angel A., Miami, FL

ANSWER

Now that’s the spirit, Angel!  What a fantastic idea to get pumped about your Caribbean escape.

We’re not too embarrassed to admit enjoying a libation or two (or three) during our own yachting excursions in the islands. Local specialties can be found throughout the Caribbean. but we’ve narrowed down the choices to our favorites (in no particular order).

KEEP IN MIND

As you sip these drinks, keep in mind you can heighten your experience by throwing on a pair of flip-flops, hiding behind a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses, and swaying to a little “Havana Daydreamin” with Jimmy Buffet.

Smooth sailing, Angel…

TOP 5 COCKTAILS

Photo of Mojito cocktail on a picnic table

MOJITO – Cuba yacht charter

Some things are quintessential Cuban – hand-made cigars, guayabera linen shirts, and minty Mojitos. The history of Cuba’s signature drink dates back to the 16th century, when Sir Francis Drake and his comrades drank a mixture of crushed mint leaves, lime and unrefined rum. Locals say Hemingway drank them at Le Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, and James Bond enjoyed one in 2002’s Die Another Day.

PAINKILLER – British Virgin Islands yacht charter

Made with Pusser’s Rum, The Painkiller cocktail originated at the Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke island in the BVIs.  The drink was once made with a secret rum recipe by Daphne Henderson, the owner of the Soggy Dollar.  Charles Tobias, the founder of the Pusser’s rum distillery, persuaded Henderson to share her recipe. We’re glad she did, as Painkiller cocktails are now readily available throughout the Caribbean.

TOP 5 COCKTAILS CONTINUE

TI PUNCH – Martinique yacht charter

More an aperitif than cocktail, this simple mix of white rum, cane sugar and lime is usually served straight and is popular in all of the French Caribbean islands – Martinique, Guadeloupe, and the French side of St. Martin. Easy to make, it’s usually  served “to taste” – drinkers are presented with a glass of rum, a lime, and some syrup to make it up as they wish.

We know what you’re thinking – we promised five killer cocktails but only named three.  You caught us!

WHAT ARE THE TOP 1 AND 2?

Submit our contact form at https://www.1800yachtcharters.com/book-now-contact-us/  requesting the other 2 great drinks.  We’ll send you the names AND the recipes to make all 5 of our favorite island-themed Caribbean yacht charter cocktails.  Look forward to hearing from you and sharing some cocktails!

WHO KNEW?  Spielberg Rejected Twice to Direct James Bond Movies

Posted on

SPIELBERG AND JAMES BOND MOVIES

Recently, we told our readers that Hollywood icon Steven Spielberg had put his spectacular Monaco yacht charter vessel up for sale.  The Spielberg yacht SEVEN SEAS is scheduled to be replaced with an even larger vessel.

In a, “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” kind of way, we thought this would be fun.  We want to look at an interesting tie-in between Spielberg and the James Bond movie franchise. Obviously Spielberg loves yachts.  James Bond movies correlate to fast, luxurious yachts.  In fact, there are several yachts named in honor of Bond films and currently available for private yacht charter  – yachts like OCTOPUSSY and CASINO ROYALE.

THE TIE-IN RVEALED

So, back to the tie-in between Spielberg and Bond.

Did you know that Steven Spielberg Was Twice Rejected to Direct a James Bond Film??!!!

Yep, it’s true.

Spielberg makes no secret of his affinity for the Bond film franchise.  He desires to, and is a top choice, to direct a Bond movie.

NO BROCCOLI

It turns out that he had two opportunities to pitch longtime Bond producer Albert R. Broccoli.  On both occasions, Broccoli said NO.

According to Broccoli’s daughter, Barbara (who took over the production reigns after her father’s death), a young, relatively unknown Spielberg made his first directorial pitch to her father early in his career.  Broccoli was impressed by the young director’s passion, but felt he lack the experience to helm a major title like Bond.

Barbara said her father told Spielberg, “Kid, ya gotta get some more films under your belt.

SCHINDLER’S LIST, THEN

steven spielberg standing behind a podium in front of Schindler's List writing on wall

After Spielberg released one of his best-reviewed films, ‘Schindler’s List,’ he sent a letter to Broccoli asking again if he could direct a Bond movie. Barbara says her father once again turned down Spielberg, this time saying, “Now I can’t afford you!

It’s safe to say things turned out ok for Mr. Spielberg.  He’s directed over a dozen blockbuster films, and  when not in use by Academy Award-winning director and his family, his yacht SEVEN SEAS is available for hire in the Mediterranean at a price of $1.2 million per week…

Yacht Charter | Jetson’s Jet Pack Takes Flight

Posted on

It was always fun to watch the famous space cartoon, The Jetsons, and imagine what it would be like in the future — transporting in rapidly moving little flying vehicles, getting ready in the morning by hopping on a conveyor belt and being automatically coiffed and dressed, and racing around wearing rocket-powered backpacks.

If you think about it, some of those wild cartoonish theories are seemingly becoming realities!

Flying cars DO now exist, although they are not yet mass produced.

Conveyor belts DO now exist, although they have not been perfected to prepare us in the mornings.

Man in suit - standing - and woman with basket - going opposite directions on moving conveyor belt in airport

…and jetpacks DO now exist, although they were first seen in James Bond 007 movies as gadgets…and they now appear on Mediterranean yacht charter superyachts as the latest and greatest watersports toy!

The future I dreamed of as a child is finally here!

Excuse me, but I have to go feed my dog, Astro…
