Hargrave Yacht SEAFARER Joins Bahamas Yacht Charter Market

Posted on

There are many production 100-foot motoryachts in the Bahamas yacht charters market, but owners Dr. and Mrs. Emmons of luxury charter yacht SEAFARER didn’t want a cookie-cutter boat, particularly one costing $6 million. They wanted something that they could personalize to reflect their taste, their love of literature and the arts.

As a result, you will see throughout the boat bookcases built specifically for the Emmons, and nooks created especially to fit their fine collection of marine artwork.

Seafarer yacht

Luxury charter yacht SEAFARER motor yacht is a 30-meter megayacht available for a Bahamas yacht charter vacation. Yacht SEAFARER has accommodations for eight (8) guests in four (4) cabins. This new mega yacht was built by superyacht builder Hargrave and was launched in 2008.

Bahama yacht charters are all about outdoor adventure in the sun, so a large inventory of waytertoys are important. This mega yacht charter vessel carries a 15′ widebody Nautica tender with 90hp Yamaha engine, two 2-person kayaks, snorkel gear, towable toys and tubes such as Boogie Boards, plus beach toys such as volley ball, Frisbees, and 4 bicycles.

How to Pack for a Yacht Charter Vacation

Posted on

In just over three weeks, you’ll be leaving on a week-long Bahamian yacht charter vacation on a sleek, performance crewed sailing yacht.  You’ve already chosen your menu through your charter broker, and your crew is ready to welcome you aboard.

You have just one concern – what to pack?

Most importantly, remember that you need to pack in soft-sided luggage (duffel bag) since space is at a premium on sail boat charters.

Pack in duffel bags for yacht charter vacations

Since you’ll be enjoying fun in the sun and a tropical environment, the most important essentials to bring are sunscreen, t-shirts, shorts, and a swimsuit.  Don’t forget a long t-shirt or light coverup to wear over your swimsuit, as you don’t want to get sunburned, yet you’ll want to wear your bathing suit constantly.

If you plan on going ashore to dine or to go out, bring summerweight clothing (pants, skirts, dresses, tops).  The Bahamas are very casual and tropical!  Some finer establishments require jackets for the men, so use common sense when planning your “dining out attire,” and don’t wear blue jeans.

Most charter guests are barefoot for the majority of their vacation time onboard, but if you choose to wear shoes, wear soft-soled shoes without black soles (that can scuff the deck) for above deck.

You don’t want to get sunburned on day 1 of your trip, then spend the rest of your vacation in pain or peeling.  Don’t forget a protective sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, oversized beach towel (not supplied by most yachts), and anything that you like to wear or have with you when spending time on the beach.  If you DO get sunburned, you’ll want to have aloe or burn cream with you (it’s expensive in the islands, and some primitive islands don’t not sell it at all) for protection.

For leaving a gratuity for the crew at the end of your charter, most charter guests bring an envelope to put on the Captain’s navigation station upon disembarking. (Customary gratuity for the crew is 10-15% of your yacht charter fee)

Sail boat charters in the Bahamas are relaxing, casual, and stress-free.  (Remember, STRESSED is DESSERTS spelled backwards….so since you are enjoying the total opposite of “stress” on this vacation, enjoy all of the gourmet desserts that you can!)

Bottom line – do not worry about what you pack for your vacation.  Rule of thumb is that you only use half of what you pack, anyway, so you’ll surely have enough with you.  Soft-sided luggage is the key to convenient storage on Bahama yacht charters. If there is anything else that you need on your trip, you can surely get it during your charter.

Is a Private Luxury Yacht Charter Vacation Right for You?

Posted on

We’ve all seen the images – a silhouette of a sailing yacht, lying at anchor near a secluded beach, the sun setting in the background; or the massive superyachts docked side-by-side in a marina along the Côte d’Azur.  It’s not hard to imagine you and your family inserted in those yachting images, enjoying la belle vie.

Is it realistic to think you can afford a holiday at sea on a private yacht?

To answer that question, let’s start with understanding exactly what a yacht charter is all about…

Sunset in background with catamaran sailboat and bird flying overhead

WHAT Is A Luxury Yacht Charter Vacation?

If you’ve ever stayed at a resort, you’ve already experienced the premise of a yachting vacation on a crewed yacht.  From accommodations, to meals, activities and amenities, everything you and your family need are available in one location.  The biggest difference –  your location “moves” when you charter a yacht!

Take for example a Virgin Islands yacht charter vessel.  While other travelers stay ashore and see the same view from their hotel window, each day you can wake up and experience a new location, as your yacht cruises from island to island.  Forget a virtual online slideshow – this is the real deal!

While onboard, you’ll be pampered by a crew of trained professionals – from a captain to navigate, to a host/hostess to serve you, and a chef to prepare your meals.  The actual number of crew depends on the size of yacht you charter and the level of service you request, so there will often be more crew members than charter guests!

Just like the resort, the yacht offers accommodations, areas to relax and socialize, and a wide variety of recreational toys to enjoy – like snorkel gear and paddleboards.  The larger yachts offer a wider variety of toys and amenities, including waverunners, cinema rooms, exercise equipment – even ondeck Jacuzzi wellness spas.

There is one more distinguishing difference when compared to a resort – it’s completely private – only you and your family and friends and your crew are onboard – no one else!  Your confidentiality is assured with 1-800 Yacht Charters.

WHERE Are Luxury Yacht Charter Vacations Offered?

Again, the comparison to seaside resorts best illustrates the locations available for enjoying a yachting holiday –  if it’s on the ocean, chances are there are yachts in the area available for hire!

Here’s a partial list of the most popular destinations for chartering a crewed yacht:

  • Caribbean – the islands of the Caribbean are popular in the winter and spring months, with sailing yachts heavily congregating in the breezy Virgin Islands, and larger motoryachts based in the celebrity-popular uber cosmopolitan areas like St. Martin and St Barts.

  • Mediterranean – the summer playground for Europeans, charter yachts can be found throughout the Greek islands, as well as along the Italian and French Riviera.  In recent years, new cruising grounds in the Med have become increasingly popular, such as the Spanish Balearic Islands and Croatia.

  • Florida and the Bahamas – unlike Europeans who often take long, multi-week vacations, Americans take shorter holidays, often for no more than a long weekend.  Staying closer to home becomes important when travel days are limited, so the idea of a Florida yacht charter escape is very popular, with the nearby Bahamas a strong option, as well.

HOW Can I Afford A Luxury Yacht Charter Vacation?

If you guessed that we would once again go back and look at a resort for the answer – you’re right!

The price options for enjoying a crewed yacht directly compare to the prices of staying at a resort.   Basic resorts in popular destinations can be very affordable for a family vacation, and so too can be the cost of a private yacht charter.  Conversely, ultra exclusive resorts in posh settings charge premium rates – as do the most luxurious private yachts.

To put this into realistic perspective, here’s a sample of yachts and their prices:

  • SAILBOAT – sail yacht MORE MAGIC is a 68 foot Virgin Islands yacht charter vessel with accommodations for up to 6 guests in 3 staterooms. Her all-inclusive charter rates start at $18,000/week

  • MOTORYACHT – the 80 foot motor yacht JODI LEE offers both Bahamas and Florida yacht charter vacations for up to 6 passengers.  Here base rate is $26,000/week plus a little extra to cover food, fuel, and dockage.

  • SUPERYACHT – up to 12 affluent travelers can explore the Mediterranean onboard the 2017 Amels yacht HERE COMES THE SUN, a 272 foot yacht with a crew of 25.  Weekly rate is Euro €1,200,000 with additional fees for food, fuel, and dockage.

Motor Yacht TAIL LIGHTS & Crew Impress Multi-Repeat Luxury Yacht Charter Family

Posted on

After some shipyard time in Georgia, the popular and highly successful charter yacht TAIL LIGHTS headed to the Bahamas in charter ready and Bristol condition.  The 116ft Azimut yacht TAIL LIGHTS looked amazing and had lots of new toys and goods onboard to start her first charter in Nassau on November 21st.

Yacht Tail Lights running next to her tender - aerial view

A recent charter guest took the time to share her thoughts about her family’s superyacht experience onboard Azimut yacht TAIL LIGHTS.  What lends credence to her comments is the fact she has chartered three times prior.  In her own words,

“We just got off the boat this morning. This was my fourth trip on a (luxury yacht) charter vessel and found it to be at least equal to but in many ways better than the previous trips I had taken. Captain Steve Kemp was awesome. He was extremely organized and looked after every detail of the trip. When we needed to adjust he was quick to respond and very accommodating. The crew was fantastic and also very accommodating. The girls were all Johnny-on-the-spot with food, drinks, and any other need we had. The staterooms were always looked after and kept pristine during our trip. Very pleasant personalities and fun to talk to. Jeff made sure the boat and tender were operating perfectly and was also very accommodating when we wanted to tour the engine room. The boat itself was appointed very nicely and it was obvious that she had been upgraded recently. It looked brand new. I would highly recommend (yacht) Tail Lights and its crew, particularly Steve the captain. I certainly would look into chartering her again.”

#thesuperyachtexperience

Built in 2011, the yacht underwent an extensive $1.5M refit in 2016.  Here’s a list of the improvements made:

  • All new exterior and interior soft goods e.g. upholstery, cushions, decorative throw pillows, bed covers, linens, towels, etc.

New Superyacht Toy Not For Faint Of Heart | Luxury Yacht

Posted on

Just in time for the winter rental season, Trinity yacht charter vessel Motoryacht CARPE DIEM has added a new toy to her watersport equipment list – a Jetovator.”

Be warned – this toy is for designed strictly for adrenaline junkies!

The Jetovator is a water sports accessory that extends the ability of an existing personal watercraft (PWC). It redirects the water thrust from the propulsion unit of a waverunner or jetski along a forty foot hose to the Jetovator body. This water thrust is then used to propel and elevate the Jetovator up into the air…or down into the water!
person in air on jetovator watersports toy

The rider can also redirect the water thrust of the two front nozzles in order to maneuver the Jetovator in all directions (read between the lines – spin wildly in the air). The Jetovator can go vertical straight up to a dizzying 20-25 feet at speeds of up to 25 mph. For a wetter experience, you can take a nose-dive and actually cruise underwater (to approximately 4-5 feet deep).

A stalwart in the Bahamas yacht charter marketplace, the 191 foot Trinity motor yacht CARPE DIEM already hosts an extensive array of watertoys before adding the Jetovator to her inventory.  Other onboard recreational gear includes:
  • 7 meter Novurania Chase tender with 260 hp engine
  • 6.7 meter Nautica Landing Craft with 260 hp jet drive engine
  • 4 wave runners
  • Trampoline
  • Waterskis
  • Wakeboard
  • Snorkel gear
  • Six sets of SCUBA gear and compressor (for certified divers only)
  • Spin bike
  • Pull-up machine
  • Weight bench
  • Free weights
  • Kaleidescape entertainment system
  • iPod docking stations throughout interior and exterior of yacht
  • Xbox
  • Wii
Staying active with so many watertoys will certainly leave guests hungry for some great food.  Fortunately, the onboard menu is as extensive and exciting as the yacht’s watertoy list.  Peter Williams, the executive chef onboard Trinity yacht CARPE DIEM was kind enough to pass along some samples from his galley.  Email us today for a copy of them at info@1800yachtcharters.com
Yacht Carpe Diem underway

Luxury motor yacht CARPE DIEM 191 can sleep 10 to 12 guests in a full-beam master stateroom on the main deck, four double guest staterooms, and a convertible gym on the lower deck.  Weekly charter rates begin at $395,000 per week, plus all expenses.=============================

Owner of Superyacht Pays Homage with James Bond Luxury Yacht, Diamonds Are Forever

casino royale bond yachts owned by john staluppi luxury motor yacht charter diamonds are forever

John Staluppi, the luxury yacht charter world’s archetypical yacht owner is at it again. Driven by imagination and pride, Staluppi has taken possession of his 16th megayacht.

casino royale diamonds are forever james bond yacht moonraker the world is not enough 007 motoryachts

Launched on Saturday 26th November 2011 at the state-of-the-art Benetti shipyard in Livorno, Italy the 60 meter Benetti FB253 is the boat’s official identification, but like so many of his earlier yachts, the vessel has been christened to honor another James Bond classic novel and film – motor yacht DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.

Based on the shipyard’s famed naval architecture and engineering, the elegant external line of the new Benetti FB253 M/Y (Motoryacht) DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER is characterized by compact forms and dynamic slender lines.  This balanced combination of traditional design elements and modern innovative stylistic solutions has become the benchmark of Benetti’s distinguishing mark throughout the world.

Long a fan of the James Bond 007 saga,  Staluppi’s earlier creations included the aptly named motor yacht OCTOPUSSY, motoryacht MOONRAKER, motor yacht THUNDERBALL, M/Y THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, and the popular Bahama yacht charters mega yacht CASINO ROYALE, a fixture at the posh Atlantis Resort and Marina on Paradise Island.

Although M/Y CASINO ROYALE and his latest effort M/Y DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER were built for true luxury at sea, Staluppi’s earlier James Bond boat creations were built with a singular focus – SPEED.  Setting records as some of the fastest superyachts in the world, it was the 43.5 meter motor yacht OCTOPUSSY which broke the 50-knot speed barrier 20 years ago and brought the name of New York-born John Staluppi to the attention of yacht aficionados.

With a background that is now well-known, the self-made millionaire left school when he was 16 and worked as a mechanic in Brooklyn before going on to develop one of the most successful car dealerships in North America — a business that enabled him to indulge his passion for racing fast boats, and then later for building megayachts.

While many charter yacht owners prefer to remain anonymous, Staluppi’s vision and passion bring fervor and excitement to a very conservative industry. After all, there aren’t many yachts aboard which guests are greeted by frosted-glass panels delicately etched with the silhouettes of Bond girls

The customized, whimsical James Bond boat themes are a refreshing breath of fresh air in an industry of white, cookie-cutter production boats.  Let’s hope Staluppi doesn’t run out of 007 movie titles, or his passion, any time soon.

Snorkeling is a Must During Bahama Yacht Charters

Posted on

Sure, you can see the tropical fish and marine life while standing in a crowded tunnel of a glass aquarium at a glitzy high-rise Bahamian resort.
Is that why you chose to enjoy a Bahama yacht charter vacation on  luxury sailing charter yacht?  Of course not!

It’s time to get up-close and personal with Bahamas sea life, and the best way to do that is to rent a private yacht and snorkel with them!

To really get to know and understand the fish, coral reefs, and all those ship wrecks is to put on a pair of goggles, grab some flippers, and dive right in.

Explore on your own, right off the stern swim platform of your luxury sailing charter vessel.

boy snorkeling on a reef of tropical fish

Bahama yacht charters offer you a chance to snorkel in warm, clear, blue water that is calm almost every day.  The sunlight that pierces the surface actually sparkles as the light reflects back from the white sandy bottom of the ocean floor. It is an unforgettable experience.

There are miles of lush coral reefs all around the islands of the Bahamas. This means snorkeling during Bahamas yacht charters is soooo easy for first-timers, yet is filled with plenty of excitement for repeat luxury sailing charter customers, as well.  You see different fish and marine life on each dive.
Every island is surrounded by shallow reefs, many of them within a few feet of the surface.
Unlike scuba diving, where you need special gear and training, the only prerequisite for a fun snorkel adventure (“skin diving”) is the ability to swim and a general curiosity for the world under the sea!

A sail boat charter or a luxury mega yacht charter is a breeze to arrange.  Contact the pros at 1-800-YACHT CHARTERS or email info@1800yachtcharters, and we will have you snorkeling right away!
