60 meter Mediterranean Yacht Charter Vessel Offers Sublime Luxury

Posted on

LYANA is now named SWAN.  (Click to access her profile and to book this gorgeous Benetti!)

Entering her third season in the Mediterranean, motor yacht SWAN looks as fresh and inviting as the day she launched.

Profile photograph of motoryacht Swan by Benetti. She is facing the center left side of the photo. There is a large rock mountain in the background. The yacht hull is dark, and the superstructure is white.

SWAN luxury Benetti superyacht

The Benetti yacht charter vessel is the epitome of elegance.  Someone effectively blended contemporary style with classic touches.

Sixty meter SWAN and her crew are now seasoned veterans.  They are ready to deliver a highly satisfying summer charter.  This yacht is capable of cruising at 14 knots.  She shares Western Mediterranean. Her itinerary includes destinations such as the Amalfi Coast, Corsica, Sardinia, Monaco, St Tropez and the Côte d’Azur.

Let’s take a closer look at M/Y SWAN.  Interior by Paris-based Pierre-Yves Rochon design.  It offers classic shapes, set in a color scheme of beige and crème for furnishing and upholstery.  Everything is framed by dark lacquered wood for cabinets and joinery. Uniquely, a collection of fine artwork by Botero, Dali, and others spreads throughout the interior.

Starting on the main aft deck, a large U-shaped sofa offers a comfortable welcome, effortlessly seating 12.  A set of white upholstered wooden armchairs and two additional semicircular sofas give the aft deck ample seating.  This is the perfect setting for entertainment.

First, from the aft deck, you enter the main salon through large sliding glass doors.  Warm and welcoming, the saloon highlights the yacht’s sublime delivery of  classic design couples with modern shapes.
One charter guest described this area as, “Tasteful, with an overall calm and hospitable feel.”
Second, forward of the main salon is the formal dining area.  Again, classic elegance has been embellished with a contemporary color palette. What a perfect location for a sophisticated dinner party.

A central spiral staircase connects all interior decks.  Adjacent to this central area is the owner’s office which serves as the entrypoint to the master suite.  Lavishly spacious, this room has the look and feel of a fully-equipped spa.   The massive bathroom features a rainforest shower area with hydro-therapy jets. The stateroom itself is bathed in natural light via a circular central skylight, and a semicircular array of windows that turn this room into a luxurious private observation lounge with panoramic views beyond the yacht’s bow.

Motor yacht SWAN can accommodate up to twelve guests, with additional staterooms found on the upper and lower decks. Located on the lower deck, two doubles and two twins can be found, all adjacent to the central staircase. Each cabin has sumptuous ensuite bathrooms.

On the upper deck, a VIP suite doubles as both an extra stateroom as well as a massage and wellness area. A licensed  masseuse is onboard and at the guests’ disposal.

The aft section of the upper deck features an open-air saloon where a bar, games table, and multiple seating arrangements can be found.  Although this may be true, the large space allows for both intimate dinner parties as well as elegant cocktail parties.

Last but not least, the sumptuously-sized sun deck.  Primary features include the Jacuzzi area, with tub, big sun pads, and an extended lounging sofa. The central section offers shade from the sun under a hard top and an area to use the onboard gym equipment (including rowing, running and Pilates machines and a trainer bicycle). For guests preferring to get their exercise in the water, there’s a large beach club deck, located at the yacht’s stern.

Simply put, this is an amazing yacht and her collection of amenities, combined with her sense of style, make her a perfect choice for any charter.

Charter rates from €320,000 per week.

Luxury Sailing Yacht Builder In A Class Of Its Own

Posted on

Was it really ten months ago that nearly two dozen of the largest luxury sailing charter vessels gathered in Porto Cervo, Sardinia for one of the most popular yachting events in the Mediterranean, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta?

This past week, 28 superyacht vessels converged at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda base in Virgin Gorda for the third “Caribbean” edition of the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, sponsored by luxury Italian brand Loro Piana.

If there is one yacht builder that stands out among all others at these events, it has to be Perini Navi.  Since the early eighties, Perini Navi has built luxury sailing charter vessels in a class of their own. To date, the company has built 52 yachts, measuring up to 88 meters in length.

Flagship of the fleet is the Perini Navi yacht MALTESE FALCON, delivered in 2006. A masterpiece of technology and design, the 88 meter yacht MALTESE FALCON is without equal.  At the 2013 Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta, Perini Navi will be represented by 38m cruiser/racer sail yacht P2, as well as the sleek and stylish 54m yacht PARSIFAL III

Other Perini Navi yacht charter vessels often available in the Caribbean include 56 meter yacht SALUTE, and the 50 meter yacht BARACUDA.

Luxury Yacht Charter Emergen-Sea: Ways To Protect Your Caribbean Yacht Charter Odyssey

Posted on

With one of the highest safety records in the travel industry, luxury sailing yacht charter vacations in the Caribbean continue to grow in popularity.  No one goes on a yachting vacation expecting misfortune.  However, it is wise to prepare for unforeseen circumstances. Here are several tips on how to protect yourself and your property.

Photo looking up toward the sky. Red and white life ring overhead with rope trailing behind it, as if being thrown.
Liability Insurance
Before you sign your charter agreement, ask your broker about the level of insurance built into the rental contract. Find out if the yacht’s insurance policy covers guests for third party liability (e.g. injury to a swimmer by a charter guest operating one of the yacht’s waverunners), as well as coverage for lost possessions and personal accidents. Consult with your own insurance advisor regarding coverage options.

Cancellation and Curtailment Insurance
People get sick…Flights get cancelled…Stuff “happens.”  Many companies like Travel Assure and Travel Guard International offer cancellation and curtailment coverage at a cost of approximately 2.5 per cent of the charter fee to cover a possible loss of the charter fee if the holiday has to be cancelled for unforeseen reasons.

Photograph of a blue and red helicopter in flight. Flying over a mountain range. Rotors visibly moving - blurred in photo.
Medical Air Service
While Virgin Islands yacht charter vacations continue to be the most popular for Americans, more and more charterers are seeking remote sailing vacations in exotic island habitats.  If you are planning on cruising in Third World waters, realize local medical services may be well below those standards of your own country, and serious life-threatening injuries or illness might require expensive aero-medical (Medivac) evacuation.  For a low cost annual membership,  the US-based Medical Air Services Association will provide immediate access to an air ambulance for repatriation in lifesaving circumstances.

Perfect Espresso Machine For Monaco Grand Prix Yacht Charter Fans

Posted on

OK, it’s time for all of our gearhead buddies to come clean. We know the only reason you call us each year to book a yacht for the Monaco Grand Prix.  Your wives have zero interest in sitting in the stands with hundreds of strangers, watching F1 racers zip by.

We understand.  A yacht docked along the quay with amenities like ondeck hot tub and luxurious sun lounges gives your ladies what they want and deserve.  It also gives you and your friends unobstructed views of the street track.

It’s that spirit of “compromise” when it comes to racing that caught our attention with this new item.

Our editor walked in this morning with a photo of the Espresso Veloce Machine.   It is an espresso machine billed as a tribute to the 1990’s Grand Prix race car engines.   These machines powered racing legends like Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.

VELOCE – means “fast” in Italian

Photograph of the Espresso Veloce coffee maker. It looks like a red and silver race car engine.

The Espresso Veloce Machine construction of race-world alloys includes magnesium, titanium, and aluminum.  It is about half the size of a real-life 3-liter racing engine.  The machine comes in both a V10 and V12 configuration.   The oil-filler doubles as a grappa reservoir.  Coffee serves through the exhaust tubes.
And get this.  The mug designs complement the overall theme!

Production is limited to just 500 numbered units worldwide.  No word yet on the price or anticipated shipping dates.

Now the real trick – getting your wife to toss the LavAazza.  Replace it on the kitchen counter with this bad boy!!!  😉

Ruling Spells End of France Yacht Charter VAT Exemption

Posted on

Back in February, we speculated the cost to rent a private yacht in the fabled south of France was about to go up, due to a ruling by the European Union the VAT exemption on chartering yachts in France was not compliant with EU VAT rules.  Now, France’s efforts to seek a VAT exemption have failed, as the European Court of Justice has ruled the French tax exemption for commercial vessels is illegal.

What does the ruling mean?

With the majority of Mediterranean yacht charter vessels in France registered as commercial vessels, the VAT exemption these yachts have enjoyed for years will end.  Luxury yacht charter customers will now find the yachts they rent subject to VAT, and this expense will almost certainly be passed on by the yacht owners to the charterers.

Photograph of a yacht with brown rock mountains in the background. Yacht is at profile. Swimming pool at back of yacht, and side balcony out over the water, at the waterline. No people present.

On March 21, the European Court of Justice (in European Commission v. France; C-197/12) held that French legislation providing a VAT exemption for some commercial vessels used for navigation on the high seas that carry passengers for remuneration or are used for commercial activities, “…does not comply with Directive 2006/112/EC (the VAT directive), specifically with article 148(a), (c), and (d).

With the approach of the summer charter season at hand, yacht managers and owners are scrambling to make sure all paperwork is in compliance with the ECJ’s ruling.”

Consequences for non-compliance may go from large penalties to even seizing the yacht. For more background and detailed analysis of the ruling, click on

This Season’s Must-Have Luxury Yacht Charter Toy

Posted on

Inflatable climbing wall on the side of a white yacht. The wall is white with blue edges, and the handholds are red and blue. There are 2 people climbing up the wall.

Every spring, the charter industry yacht owners gear up for the Mediterranean yacht charter summer season.  They have their crews spruce up the yachts in multiple ways. For instance, fresh paint, new linens and fabrics, and most importantly:  new watertoys.

The competition between watertoy manufacturers is stiff.  All battle to come up with the newest unique aquatoy

Last year, the must have toy was the Water Slide.  More than 100 megayachts commissioning the toy in just one season.

Summer is just around the corner.  Industry insiders think the next “must-have” watertoy just might be an inflatable “Climbing Wall.”

James Econs from Eco Yacht Toys says,
“The Climbing Wall really could be the client request for 2013/14 and the interest in it, even in these last ten days, has blown us away.  We hope to have a few climbing walls on yachts before summer really kicks in – and they’ll all be the talking point of the bay.”

Some may think so much focus on toys is silly. Jana Sheeder , President of 1-800 Yacht Charters sees it differently.
“In our superyacht industry, the more high-tech gadgets and premium toys you have onboard, the greater your odds are to secure charters from repeat clients,” explains Sheeder.  “Many clients will return each season to the comfortable surroundings of the same destination, but they will expect the yacht they choose to provide fresh entertainment options with each new charter.”

The climbing wall is the world’s first inflatable exercise wall.  It is designed by professional rock climbers, and built by Green Yachts.  It has three different routes. These have three different color schemes.  Each represents a different level of difficulty. First, green for novice climbers.  Second, yellow for intermediate climbers.  Third, red for advanced climbers seeking a challenging and tricky ascent.

The best feature of this new toy?   A tough and hot ascent?  Simply plunge into the sea below for a refreshing break!

Introductory prices for the inflatable climbing wall start at 14,495 Euros.

Skip the crowds in France and Italy, and consider a Croatia yacht charter this summer.
