3 Yacht Charter Must See Destinations | Luxury yacht charter

Posted on

Our friends at Trip Advisor recently sent us an email with some stunning images of 20 awe-inspiring places you must see.  The locations were selected by their members.

Several of the spots were accessible by yacht or could easily be accessed by land during a luxury yacht charter vacation.

From the locations submitted by the members, we’ve selected our favorite three for you to see:

1.  PULPIT ROCK – Ryfylke, Norway.
The Pulpit Rock (“Preikestolen” in Norwegian) soars 604 meters over the Lysefjord. This flat mountain plateau, was most likely carved and formed from melting ice over 10,000 years ago.

Fjord yacht charters in the summertime remain a popular choice, especially among European customers from neighboring Soviet countries.
The Schooner sail yacht MONTIGNE  often offers Norway yacht charter vacations in the summertime. Built by Aegean Yachts, the 2009 super yacht MONTIGNE is a 57 meter (187 foot) three-masted staysail schooner with accommodations for 12 guests.

Her yacht charter rates start at $140,000 per week, plus expenses.

2.  PLITVICE LAKES – Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia.
Founded in 1949, Plitvice is the largest national park in Croatia, drawing more than 1,200,000 visitors annually.  Situated in the mountainous area of central Croatia, the national park connects the Croatian inland with the Adriatic coastal region – a highly popular yachting destination.
The interest in Croatia yacht charters continues to grow each summer, as clients look for alternatives to the crowded anchorages and overpriced marinas in France and Italy.Aerial photograph of mountains, green trees, turquoise water, and waterfalls flowing from the lakes
Motor yacht AIR, Benetti yacht charter vessel MINE GAMES, and James Bond inspired boat, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, have all spent time recently cruising the calm waters of the Adriatic yacht charter coastline.
3.  SANTORINI – Cyclades, Greece.
If you’ve ever seen a photograph of blinding-white buildings with blue roofs, juxtaposed against a backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea, chances are you saw a photo of Santorini.  The views of the sea from the terraces of the ancient towns along the cliffs are mesmerizing.
Arguably the most famous island in Greece, Santorini is easily reachable by yacht – just 120 miles southeast from Greece’s mainland.

Popular Greek yacht charter vessels include motor yacht LADY BRITT  and super yacht EXCELLENCE V.

33 Meter Crewed Catamaran Charter Vessel Launched By Curvelle Yachts

Posted on

In February we added the brand new 33 meter catamaran yacht QUARANTA to our website, in anticipation of her launch and christening.

We are proud to report motor yacht QUARANTA, the largest carbon hybrid composite power catamaran in the world, was successfully launched in February.

At 3.30am, the Turkish-built superyacht was pulled from her Tuzla shipyard shed on to the public road by a huge trailer. From there, she was towed 3 kilometers to the RMK shipyard for launching.

Photograph of profile of power catamaran at anchor. Sunset reflection on the side of the boat. Photo taken at "the golden hour."
The following day, on Sunday morning at 10:45am, the yacht was officially christened and launched.

The vessel features a flexible layout. Six double cabins offer room for 12 guests, and be converted into three VIP suites, six twins, doubles, or any combination thereof. All guest cabins are located on the main deck and fitted with large windows.

Interior and exterior styling was provided by UK’s Lila Lou Studios, with Incat Crowther serving as the naval architects.

With four decks and a nine (9) meter beam, the catamaran provides nearly 50 per cent more space than a comparable 30 meter monohull.

She is available this summer for Eastern Mediterranean yacht charter vacations at a rate of €125,000 per week, plus all expenses.
A similar vessel, the Sunreef 70 power catamaran DAMRAK II is also available for hire in the Mediterranean in the summer months.=======================

58 Meter St Martin Yacht Charter Vessel Is A Standout

We had a opportunity to chat with Captain Glynn Smith onboard the Trinity yacht charter vessel, motor yacht MI SUENO recently.  We organized a year-end Caribbean yacht charter for a repeat customer and needed to review itinerary ideas, etc.
It’s always a pleasure to work with a real “Can-Do” skipper – the type of professional who never says “No” to a client.  Glynn truly understands the value of top-notch customer service, and it shows in his enthusiasm.
Glynn’s positive attitude and professionalism deserve recognition.  Maybe it’s time we showed him our gratitude with a little extra promotion of his magnificent charter vessel, M/Y MI SUENO:

The sophisticated, contemporary interior designed by Patrick Knowles is a tasteful mix of textures, fine art, and neutral colors in furniture, fabric, carpeting, and stonework. The formal dining area is nothing short of stunning – with a table that seats 14 comfortably.

60 meter Mediterranean Yacht Charter Vessel Offers Sublime Luxury

UPDATE NAME CHANGE

LYANA is now named SWAN.  (Click to access her profile and to book this gorgeous Benetti!)

THIRD SEASON IS A CHARM

Entering her third season in the Mediterranean, motor yacht SWAN looks as fresh and inviting as the day she launched.

Profile photograph of motoryacht Swan by Benetti. She is facing the center left side of the photo. There is a large rock mountain in the background. The yacht hull is dark, and the superstructure is white.

SWAN luxury Benetti superyacht

ABOUT THE YACHT

The Benetti yacht charter vessel is the epitome of elegance.  Someone effectively blended contemporary style with classic touches.

DESTINATIONS

Sixty meter SWAN and her crew are now seasoned veterans.  They are ready to deliver a highly satisfying summer charter.  This yacht is capable of cruising at 14 knots.  She shares Western Mediterranean. Her itinerary includes destinations such as the Amalfi Coast, Corsica, Sardinia, Monaco, St Tropez and the Côte d’Azur.

CLOSER LOOK

Let’s take a closer look at M/Y SWAN.  Interior by Paris-based Pierre-Yves Rochon design.  It offers classic shapes, set in a color scheme of beige and crème for furnishing and upholstery.  Everything is framed by dark lacquered wood for cabinets and joinery. Uniquely, a collection of fine artwork by Botero, Dali, and others spreads throughout the interior.

MAIN DECK

Starting on the main aft deck, a large U-shaped sofa offers a comfortable welcome, effortlessly seating 12.  A set of white upholstered wooden armchairs and two additional semicircular sofas give the aft deck ample seating.  This is the perfect setting for entertainment.

MAIN SALON

First, from the aft deck, you enter the main salon through large sliding glass doors.  Warm and welcoming, the saloon highlights the yacht’s sublime delivery of  classic design couples with modern shapes.
One charter guest described this area as, “Tasteful, with an overall calm and hospitable feel.”
Second, forward of the main salon is the formal dining area.  Again, classic elegance has been embellished with a contemporary color palette. What a perfect location for a sophisticated dinner party.

SPIRAL STAIRCASE

A central spiral staircase connects all interior decks.  Adjacent to this central area is the owner’s office which serves as the entrypoint to the master suite.  Lavishly spacious, this room has the look and feel of a fully-equipped spa.   The massive bathroom features a rainforest shower area with hydro-therapy jets. The stateroom itself is bathed in natural light via a circular central skylight, and a semicircular array of windows that turn this room into a luxurious private observation lounge with panoramic views beyond the yacht’s bow.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Motor yacht SWAN can accommodate up to twelve guests, with additional staterooms found on the upper and lower decks. Located on the lower deck, two doubles and two twins can be found, all adjacent to the central staircase. Each cabin has sumptuous ensuite bathrooms.

UPPER DECK

On the upper deck, a VIP suite doubles as both an extra stateroom as well as a massage and wellness area. A licensed  masseuse is onboard and at the guests’ disposal.

AFT

The aft section of the upper deck features an open-air saloon where a bar, games table, and multiple seating arrangements can be found.  Although this may be true, the large space allows for both intimate dinner parties as well as elegant cocktail parties.

SUN DECK

Last but not least, the sumptuously-sized sun deck.  Primary features include the Jacuzzi area, with tub, big sun pads, and an extended lounging sofa. The central section offers shade from the sun under a hard top and an area to use the onboard gym equipment (including rowing, running and Pilates machines and a trainer bicycle). For guests preferring to get their exercise in the water, there’s a large beach club deck, located at the yacht’s stern.

SUMMARY

Simply put, this is an amazing yacht and her collection of amenities, combined with her sense of style, make her a perfect choice for any charter.

RATE

Charter rates from €320,000 per week.

Adios! Spain To Abolish Private Luxury Yacht Charter Tax

Posted on

The cost to enjoy a Balearic Island yacht charter vacation should soon be going down, as the Spanish government announced that they have ceased implementation of the IEDMT (Impuesto Especial sobre Determinados Medios de Transporte), better known in the yachting industry as the Matriculation Tax.
Spain yacht charter tax lifted matriculation tax withdrawn private luxury yacht charter
First introduced in 1992, the tax equaled up to 13.7% of a vessel’s value and was applied to all yachts over 15 meters used commercially, such as charter vessels.
Coupled with the standard VAT imposed on charters, the cost to own a superyacht or rent a yacht in Spanish waters became prohibitive when compared to other European Union countries.
Protests by the Spanish and Mediterranean maritime industry have been ongoing ever since.  Numerous reports outlined how the tax was causing economic harm, not benefit, to employment and economic activity in Spain.  Some studies showed losses to the economy of 10 million euro per weekend alone, in high season.
For years, Spain ignored the calls to rescind the matriculation tax .  In 2011, the European Union Court of Justice declared the Spanish Boat Tax an “unlawful practice,” yet Spanish authorities ignored the guidance laid down by the EU.
Fortunately, the Spanish government finally listened.
According to a statement released by the Spanish Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations in July, the Ministry will, “…cease the application of  Matriculation Tax to vessels of 15m+ engaged in commercial activity.”
While the news is widely heralded as positive, many hurdles remain before chartering in Spanish waters becomes competitive with other regions in the European Union.
“Spanish IVA (VAT) remains at 21% – nearly double the typical fees found in other EU countries,” states Jana Sheeder, President of SailAway Yacht Charters and 1-800 Yacht Charters. Sheeder adds, “A myriad of permits and registration requirements makes it difficult for charter vessels to commit to cruising in Spain.Without Spanish registration, these yachts cannot begin and end a charter within Spanish waters.  So the combination of  administrative burdens and high IVA keeps most charter yachts out of Spain.”
It should also be noted the matriculation tax has not been eliminated.
Sheeder explains, “The tax has not been eliminated. The Ministry was careful to use the words, ‘Ceased to be applied.’   While we expect the Spanish Parliament to vote in favor of the Ministry’s position on the matriculation tax, there is no guarantee that a future administration won’t vote to reinstate it.”
Still, the abolishment of the matriculation tax is a step in the right direction.  Parliament’s approval is expected within the next few months and the new exemption should be in place in time for the summer 2014 charter season.=====================================

Amazing Wildlife Spectacle Awaits Antarctic Yacht Charter Guests

Posted on

Earlier this month, we blogged about the 70-meter motor yacht SHERAKHAN, an expedition yacht charter vessel making her way to the Antarctic.

We received an update today from Sioned Williams, one of the yacht owner’s assistants:

“Heading ever further south, with temperatures dropping and the number of icebergs sighted increasing daily, SHERAKHAN arrived in Grytviken yesterday.  Having been cleared in by customs, and all on board received the South Georgia stamp in their passports, the guests and crew visited the local museum in Grytviken where they met all the locals – all 20 of them!”

While in South Georgia, the charter guests and crew were treated to what Williams described as, “…having witnessed the awesome sight of a colony of around half a million King Penguins and thousands of fur seals on the beach.”

Next stop on the itinerary –  the superyacht is now cruising towards St. Andrew’s Bay, making way towards the Antarctic Sounds.

Motor yacht Sherakhan offers accommodations for up to 26 passengers in thirteen staterooms. She is available from March 1, in Ushuaia or the Falklands. Panama yacht charter and Costa Rica yacht charter vacations are also available beginning in late March, as the vessel heads north to the Caribbean.

Antarctica Next Stop For 70 Meter Expedition Luxury Yacht Charter Vessel

Posted on

While many yacht owners are content to offer their yachts for hire in the tried-and-true winter cruising ground of the Caribbean, Jan Verkerk is always looking for new destinations in the hopes of enticing potential charter customers to explore land and sea far from the beaten path.

This year, Jan has committed his 70 meter expedition-style yacht, M/Y SHERAKHAN to Antarctica.

Earlier this week, we received an email from the yacht’s manager:  “Motor yacht SHERAKHAN has just crossed the equator on her way to Antarctica! (She) will arrive in the Falkland Islands on the 6th of February to start her Antarctica adventure.”

One of the largest yachts available for rent, the 70 meter SHERAKHAN offers accommodations for up to 26 passengers in thirteen staterooms.

If Antarctica is too remote, Jan is open to accepting trips along the east or west coast of South America, or Panama, or even head back to the ever-popular islands of St Barts and St Martin to accept a traditional Caribbean yacht charter booking.

Her rates begin at  €350,000 EUROS per week, plus expenses.

Bareboat Sailboat Vacation Lets You Take The Helm

Posted on

It’s hard to beat the outright indulgence of a Virgin Islands crewed yacht charter – every detail is managed by a trained crew, from operating the yacht, to preparing your customized meals, to keeping the vessel tidy and shipshape.

But what about those times you feel the need to escape – to be alone with loved ones –  a chance to trade polite intrusiveness with no-frills quality family time?

Families who routinely enjoy luxury yacht charter vacations with a full-crew compliment can now opt to go boating in total privacy, onboard a bareboat yacht charter.

The concept is simple – just as you would rent a car to drive yourself, with some basic training, you can rent a bareboat and take the helm yourself!

bareboat sailboat charter vacation caribbean yacht charters catamaran powercat voyage
A, “bareboat” is just as the name sounds – a boat with just the bare essentials onboard.  It comes to you with no food, no beverages, and most noticeably, no crew.   You do your own cooking and cleaning, and you operate and sail the yacht, yourself.

Fleets of bareboats can be found in nearly every location you would expect to find a fully-crewed yacht charter vessel.  Virgin Islands bareboat vacations are perhaps the most common, with hundreds of boats available for rent in both St. Thomas, USVI, and Tortola, BVI.
Other top-rated destinations include Bahamas bareboat vacations in the Abaco island chain, and Florida yacht charter holidays, primarily in the Florida Keys.

Both sail yachts and motor yachts can be rented, with room for 2 to 8 passengers.  A small handful of bareboat catamaran yachts can even accommodate up to 10 passengers.

Companies such as 1-800-BAREBOAT, the Moorings, and Sunsail specialize in arranging self-skippered charters in destinations around the world; for example, Bahamas, Florida Keys, Greece, Corsica, Sardinia, France, Cote d’azur, Tortola, Tortolla, St. Thomas, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Tonga, Miami and South Florida.

Customers can choose from a global network of monohull sailboats with brands like Beneteau, Sun Odyssey, Dufour, or Jeanneau – and multihull catamarans with brands like Fountaine Pajot, Lagoon, and Sunreef.

Basic rental prices tend to be less much expensive than those of luxury crewed yacht charter vessels, but customers need to remember they are responsible to purchase and prepare their own meals.  The cost to provision the yacht must be considered when comparing this bare bones charter option to the price of a crewed yacht.

Another important factor – the customer’s qualification to operate a boat.

Just as it takes skill and normally a license to operate a motor vehicle, similar rules apply to bareboats.  While formal licenses are not usually necessary, a solid level of competency is necessary.  The ability to read basic charts, navigate, and to set the anchor are the most important skills required to rent a bareboat.

Luckily, these skills can easily be mastered, either through formal boating courses, or simply by garnering casual boating experience with your own boat or the boat of a friend or neighbor.

Popular ideas for bareboat yacht charter vacations are anniversary celebrations, family reunions (with boats sailing in tandem), couples getaways, and snorkeling adventures.

So before you plan your next tropical odyssey, give some thought and compare bareboat vacations to crewed charters  – one of them will surely be the right choice for you, your family, and friends!

==========

Ready to become the master of your destiny, or at least your sailing journey?   Taking the helm as the skipper of your own bareboat yacht charter is truly a rewarding experience for anyone who wants the challenge of guiding your own vessel in the world’s most exotic island destinations.  To charter a bareboat sailboat or powerboat, contact 1-800 Yacht Charters at https://www.1800yachtcharters.com/book-now-contact-us/ TODAY!
