Readers ask for more information on superyacht Air – the largest Feadship offered for rent – so we deliver! In the past, we profiled the launch of motor yacht AIR, which prompted discussion.
Superyacht AIR surpassed all expectations during her sea trials and her owner is scheduled to take delivery in just under two weeks. Shortly after, she will depart Holland and head straight to Monte Carlo to undertake her July Mediterranean yacht charter booking commitments.
Joining a fleet of the largest yachts for hire, the gigayacht still has open charter dates in the months of August and September. At the conclusion of the summer season, the yacht will re-position across the Atlantic and join the St. Martin yacht charter fleet.
Feadship yacht AIR is helmed by co-captains Stephen Warren and Mark Finch and boasts a young and enthusiastic crew, including an excellent young British chef, new to the industry. They are all looking forward to a spectacular season.
The yacht features a sleek, elegant exterior with a unique matte black steel hull. The minimalist interior, created by Remi Tessier, is stunning. Amenities include an 8 meter-long pool located on the main deck forward, and a sun deck with full gym and Jacuzzi. Other features include an elevator to all decks, massage and steam rooms, and a fully-certified commercial helicopter pad (helipad).
BE THE FIRST to charter this beautiful new yacht this summer. The weekly rental rate is €750,000 plus expenses. Contact our office for photos and additional details at https://www.1800yachtcharters.com/book-now-contact-us/.

A friend, unfamiliar with yachting asked me, “What makes a Feadship so special?” I simply said,
“Feadship is the Rolls Royce of the yachting world.“
Aficionados of premium brand jewelry, cigars, furniture, and automobiles understand. Enthusiasts draw to the brand’s pedigree and reputation of excellence. It dates back to 1949.
These yachts are synonymous with quality craftsmanship and the finest building materials. Ironically, the builder embraced state-of-the-art construction technology. It is now renown for modern superyacht designs and naval architecture.
Here is a partial listing of the newest yachts built by Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyard and available for super yacht charters throughout the Mediterranean and Caribbean:
81 meter 2011 motor yacht AIR:
63 meter 2011 motor yacht LADY BRITT:

As the year draws to a close, luxury yacht charter maven Jana Sheeder, President of SailAway Yacht Charter Consultants and 1-800 Yacht Charters, is beaming.
“We’ve closed our year with the addition of 40 brand new 2011 models to our global network of yacht charter vessels. The largest of our new offerings is the 81 meter Feadship motor yacht AIR, followed by Proteksan Turquoise yacht TALISMAN MAITON (ex-Talisman C) and Rossi Navi motor yacht HIGH POWER III (ex-Numptia), both 70 meters in overall length.”
With a reputation for offering the newest and largest yachts in the world’s best destinations, Sheeder and her teams spend countless hours identifying potential charter yachts.
“Rarely do we add any yacht to our fleet that is more than two to three years old, “ says Sheeder. “Even when we consider classic-styled yachts, we prefer to promote modern reproductions of famous yachts. Clients know they can turn to us for yachts that are on the cutting edge of new technology and styling.”
An example of Sheeder’s pursuit of modern yachts is the newly launched 47 meter sail yacht GERMANIA NOVA, a replica of a classic racing schooner first launched in 1908. Says Sheeder,
“Turn of the century guests onboard the original yacht would marvel at the technological comforts onboard this modern vessel. From satellite televisions to 5.1 Dolby surround sound, the only thing ‘old’ on this yacht is the classic design.”
Many of the new yachts are award winners in global design competitions, such as the annual ShowBoats Design Awards.
“We pay close attention to these competitions,” reports Sheeder. “The best designers and naval architects in the world judge these yachts. Odds are great that if the best minds in the industry like a boat, our clients will, too.”
Recent award winners promoted by SailAway to their clients include late 2010 launch Perini Navi motor yacht EXUMA (Best Exterior Design & Styling Award: Displacement Motor Yachts 100-199), and the 42 meter Holland Jachtbouw motor yacht CALLIOPE (Best Exterior Design & Styling Award: Semi-displacement Motor Yachts).
As to the new year, Sheeder is even more optimistic.
“Our research indicates that 72 new megayachts were ordered in 2011, the largest at 100 meters, and an average length of almost 43 meters. Eighty per cent of these newly-built yachts will be launched in 2012 or 2013, and we’ll surely have an entirely new inventory of yachts-for-hire to present to our discriminating clientele!”

The ShowBoats Design Awards are now in their 5th season, and shine the spotlight on the yachting industry’s most talented designers and builders. The international list of nominees – superyacht owners, designers, and industry leaders will gather for a gala event on Monday, February 24, at Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, Austria. The awards ceremony will take place on the first evening of the Superyacht Design Symposium – a two-day affair for superyacht owners and industry professionals.
The deckhand approaches the charter of guests. He says, “would anyone care to ride the banana?“
Surprisingly, not an eyebrow was raised nor a snicker made by any of the guests at the funny name. These were repeat charterers, and they knew. A”banana” is one of the reasons that they chose to charter this Feadship yacht.
A banana is one of many popular watertoys available on most Caribbean yacht charter vessels. It is a towable toy that is a giant, yellow, floating cylindrical tube, with room for 3 or more fun-loving adventurists.
Charter skippers add more new toys to their onboard inventory every season. Yachts used to only carry a couple of fishing poles, snorkel gear, and a windsurfer. Now, you find waverunners, underwater scooters, and multiple towable toys onboard the typical vessel for hire.
Jana Sheeder, President of 1-800 Yacht Charters, maven of an international private yacht charter agency, comments.
“When it comes to toys on today’s charter vessels, the rule of thumb is simple – go extreme,” says Sheeder. “We now see yachts carrying high performance waverunners, segway scooters for playing ashore, and even small submarines for exploring reefs.“
The onboard toy inventory of Oceanco motor yacht SEVEN SEAS reads like a Hammacher Schlemmer catalog. The yacht carries multiple watertoys. Just a few, for instance, are 3 tenders, 4 waverunners, windsurfers, paddleboards, kiteboard, kneeboard, wakeboard, snorkel gear, and multiple Aqua Slides.
The 81 meter Feadship motor yacht AIR keeps pace with yacht SEVEN SEAS by including among her toys: 2 Laser sailing dinghies, 4 Kayaks, SCUBA gear (certified divers only), and 4 BladeFish underwater scooters.
Sheeder is grateful her yacht owners continue their pursuit of bigger, faster, more unique toys.
“In the end, it’s the charter customers who benefit from the childlike enthusiasm of yacht owners willing to spend whatever it takes to have the newest toys and techno-gadgets onboard their luxury yachts.“
