Sardinia has been on everyone’s radar for the past few weeks. First, we heard how Steven Spielberg, with Gwyneth Paltrow in tow, ran afoul of the local authorities as the tender to his superyacht, motoryacht SEVEN SEAS cruised too close to island beachgoers.
Then, we reported on the Perini Navi yacht charter fleet preparing for early September’s sailing regatta against the beautiful backdrop of Porto Cervo, Sardinia.
So exactly where is Sardinia and what is the allure that draws so many sailors and visitors?
Sardinia is Italy’s second largest island as well as the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is famed for its beautiful beaches and fascinating history. The nearest land masses are (clockwise from north) the French island of Corsica, the Spanish Balearic Islands, and the Italian Peninsula, Sicily, and Tunisia.
For Atlas lovers, the island of Sardinia is situated between 38° 51′ and 41° 15′ latitude north and 8° 8′ and 9° 50′ east longitude. To the west of Sardinia is the Balearic Sea; to Sardinia’s east is the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Over many centuries the island has survived countless invasions by the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, and Arabs. Local festivals on the island still reflect the long-lasting impact of those cultures.
Numerous castles, villages, temples and tombs cover the countryside, and with its perfect summer weather, tourists arrive in droves, some via Mediterranean yacht charter vessels, but many more via ferry service from the Italian mainland.
Have you been to Sardinia? Please tell us about your experiences!

When it comes to yachting, the words, “Fast” and “Displacement” are rarely uttered in the same sentence. In part, displacement yachts tend to be built heavier and wider, to achieve maximum comfort. The tradeoff for this stability at sea has traditionally been speed.
However, one builder continues to throw convention to the wind.
Italy’s Benetti Yachts, has unveiled a third generation of fast yachts, rounding out an extensive range of vessels which currently includes class range semi-custom displacement vessels from 93′ to 145′, and custom-built megayachts starting at 45 meters.
The new Fast Displacement line of composite vessels built by Benetti in Viareggio, Italy includes two models — the Benetti F-140, first introduced in 2012, and the brand new Benetti F-125. The new line Benetti F-125 is designed to be truly versatile, offering speed when needed, but at the same time fuel efficiency and comfort.
In a recent press release, Benetti CEO Vincenzo Poerio touted the new line:
“Many of our clients have requested faster, more versatile, and efficient boats, while maintaining the same level of comfort and customization found in our existing yachts. The new Fast Displacement line is designed precisely in response to these requests, and it rounds out our current offering in the Class Range. We haven’t just created a new series; we have invested time and resources – combining the Benetti’s 140-years of experience in super yachts with the technological know-how of Azimut Benetti Group – to create a new way of heading out to sea.”
Comfort and luxurious European styling make Benetti yachts popular rental vessels. Italian yacht charter customers often request Benetti yachts by name.
Some of the popular Benetti yacht charter vessels include:

After a successful Italy yacht charter season this summer, the owner of Benetti motor yacht ULYSSES has announced his interest to relocate his 56 meter yacht this winter to the warm waters of the Caribbean, and in particular, the new cruising destination Cuba.
The idea of a Cuba yacht charter vacation is now more popular than ever, in large part thanks to the easing of travel restrictions between the United States government and the government of Cuba. The result of minimal tourism in Cuba for the past 5 decades means much of the country remains as pristine as it did a half-century ago.
Small islets and miles of unspoiled beaches along the southern coast of the island nation are ideal for a warm weather yachting vacation. Additionally, the opportunity to interact with the residents and their unique Latin culture rounds out the total Superyacht Experience.
Offering great value to potential customers is nothing new for the owner of Italian-built motor yacht ULYSSES, a Benetti 184 foot superyacht. In fact, the yacht still has a late summer discount in place for charters in the Mediterranean, along the Italian coast. Although no discounts have been announced yet for Cuba and the Caribbean, we feel it’s only a matter of time before the yacht’s owner dangles a tantalizing offer in front of our noses!
Check back with us during the fall, and we’ll let you know all of the great winter deals available for enjoying a Cuba yacht charter vacation, or any other special deal throughout the Caribbean…

A couple weeks ago, we shared some guest comments and a vid for motor yacht ‘H. We mentioned that our clients were enjoying a luxury yacht charter after catching Bey and Jay-Z’s “On The Run II” concert in Paris. A day after the show, Beyonce and family also grabbed a superyacht and headed to sea to enjoy a few days cruising the Italian coastline.
It seems a few of you saw photos of the power couple as they walked the streets in Capri, but that wasn’t good enough – you wanted to see their yacht!
Now you know we can’t show you private photos of the Carters on the yacht (not cool), but – we’re glad to show you a video of the yacht!
So here you go fans – click here to enjoy some amazing images onboard motoryacht KISMET – and use your imagination to picture Queen B and the fam, living it up!
[BTW – if you’re still dying to see the family on yacht Kismet, there are a couple photos posted on Beyonce’s Instagram page]

If you are planning a luxury mega yacht charter this summer on a Mediterranean yacht, you’ll be pleased to know Luise Group, leaders in maritime agency services to the superyacht industry, has taken over management of the Ponente Quay (Molo di Ponente) of Lacco Ameno on the Island of Ischia.
The marina known previously as Heaven’s Quay, has now been renamed The Seventh Heaven Yacht Club.
Ischia is a volcanic island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, about 30 kilometers from Naples, Italy, at the northern end of the Gulf of Naples, and is a frequent destination for sail boat charters and mega yacht charters.
The Seventh Heaven Yacht Club, located on the northern part of island of Ischia, can accommodate twelve mega yachts, and the marina covers an area close to 16,000 square metres. The pier, which is 140 metres in length, offers all essential necessities including water, electricity, and mooring posts.
The renamed facility will now figure prominently among the most prestigious ports and marinas that are currently managed by the Luise Group.
Luise Associates, the branch of Luise Group which is exclusively dedicated to maritime agency services for mega yachts, works with over 600 yachts cruising in the Gulf of Naples each year.
Francesco Luise, Managing Partner of Luise Group commented, “We are very proud to be able to take under our management the main dock in Lacco Ameno, Ischia. Although the area of Lacco Ameno is one of the smallest counties on the Island of Ischia, it is a prestigious and visually beautiful location for superyachts to berth. The Seventh Heaven Yacht Club will permit us to have a permanent presence in the area while continuing to provide the best in maritime agency services to our clients.”
